Which College Teams Regress In 2021?

Ohio State may regress, if new quarterback C.J. Stroud isn't very good. Texas will likely regress with a new coaching staff and QB, but 6-3 isn't a high bar to clear. Oklahoma State lost quite a bit of production, so the Cowboys might regress a little, too.

In my opinion these regress in 2021
Notre Dame
Florida
Indiana
Coastal Carolina
I would add BYU to the list. Hard to see them be as good without the QB. Coastal Carolina should remain solid, but given they're in one of the weak conferences, it's hard to tell if they're good or not.

Obvious one is Northwestern
They may win 8 games, if either of the transfer QBs performs well. Defense is where they win, and typically only rely on the QB to manage the game and not turn the ball over. They only have five returners on defense though, so will have to see how the new guys play.

Northwestern will regress because Fitzgerald doesn't get the Wildcats up for nonconference games. They almost always lose a nonconference game or two that they shouldn't lose.

Paddy Fisher is gone. Did he even get drafted?
He could play in the B1G especially the West

Northwestern will have a hard time replacing him.
They are an up and down team. Their ups are getting better.

Still too early to tell. With this transfer portal, a player could leave at any time so a team many thought might regress suddenly becomes a conference leader and vice versa.

Head Coach Chadwell is still there so you never know. I thought he had moved on. I don't see an unbeaten team this year for them. Their OOC is The Citadel, Kansas and Buffalo so they could be 3-0 going into the conference. Sun Belt is a decent conference. Better than the MAC and CUSA anyway.

They will need to find a QB and some offensive lineman along with 2 new defensive players to replace the 2 studs that went to the NFL.
You make a good point and my opinion is just that...an opinion. However the Gators have a huge pool of talent and there is a buzz...which in Florida means something.

You're splitting hairs with those three lousy conferences, but Sun Belt did improve drastically last year with on field performance, and they could maintain it. They're a notch above CUSA and the MAC. CUSA and MAC are probably tied for the worse FBS conference, with MAC being slightly better overall.

They also have a new DC Wesley McGriff (nick named Crime Dog) after Todd Grantham last year gave up 30 plus points a game 6 times compared to 1 time in 2019.

The new DC more than likely is the reason for the Buzz.

Sun Belt was unbeaten vs Big 12 last year which puts CFE's claim to toughest conference as a bit skewed.
