Which poll will the playoff committee follow on Tuesday?

Baylor is #2 to #1 Ohio State in both the Associated Press writers and coaches’ polls.

TCU is #3 with the coaches and #5 with the writers.

#4 LSU is the only SEC team in the top 6 in either poll, which means a loss by LSU might eliminate the SEC from the national playoffs. Nah. They’ll find a way to fix that.

Oklahoma State is #12 and #10.

Oklahoma is #14 and #13.

It will be interesting to see whether the national playoff committee on Tuesday comes down on the side of the coaches’ poll or the writers’ poll when it comes to TCU.

Clemson is #3 and #5.

Michigan State is #6 and Alabama #7 in both polls.

I think GA has nailed tonight's rankings.

Down the road a 1 loss SEC West team will absolutely beat out any other 1 loss teams (deservedly so)

If the Big 12 has no undefeated teams, we could well see a repeat of last year. Frankly, it's hard to see a 1 loss Baylor team beating out other 1 loss teams with its weak schedule.

I see no possible rationale for having Baylor above LSU at this point.

The Tigers' victory over Florida and road win at Mississippi St easily dwarf the Bears' lone good win over Texas Tech.

I don't disagree with that objectively, (I don't think TTU even qualifies as a good win) but I still think due to the early hype Baylor will get the benefit of the doubt for this week. But, if it loses a game it will drop to near the bottom of the 1 loss teams immediately.

Objectively, I think MSU with wins over Michigan and Oregon also has a better resume than Baylor or TC. Neither Michigan or Oregon is great by any means but they are better than anyone Baylor or TCU has played. That said, I don't see MSU above 6 for now.

What difference do the early ranking or even the 2nd to last ranking make? There is very little logic rhyme or reason in last season committee. TCU was #2 in the 2nd to last poll won like 55-3 and dropped out. If they'd have put up 60 or 70 would they have stayed in the top 4. I personally think in year 1 they just picked the best 4 logical TV draws to ensure ratings (and it worked).

Until they show different it doesn't matter til seasons end and ain't worth following unless you are a sports radio host.

Well, well... I guess we all guessed wrong.

1 Clemson
2 LSU
3 tOSU
4 Alabama

Then 5 ND (a travesty considering SOS) , 6 Baylor, 7 MSU, 8 TCU.

Looks like a set up against the B12 again for not having a C game.

3 undefeated teams ranked below 1loss Bama and ND. Go figure.

I don't see any way an undefeated Big 12 doesn't get in! I'm not totally sold on Clemson so I see a loss there. So I think PAC 12 and ACC get left out this year.

The early rankings buil d drama. We're talking about it and so is everyone else. Beyond that the don't mean much.
