Very?

I’d be hard pressed to disagree more, but glad you enjoy it. Perhaps you’re more of a “monkeyguy” than cowguy.

For my tastes, it’s a banana bomb for certain and that’s not an isolated opinion. Bananarama Reviews

I do pick up the cherry undertones in both Buffalo Trace and Blantons. Not sure about jim beam brands and nut flavors-could probably say that about many bourbons
You’re taking this very personally. How dare I question your omniscient palate?

Some people also think cilantro tastes like soap.

There isn’t a reviewer I respect that pulls banana out in their tasting note.

But I’m happy for you to not drink it. They make lots of other options

What do you all think of sold Forester 1897 100 proof?

nevermind I just found two bottles of OF 1920 which is what I was hunting for.

Wasn't trying to take a cheap personal shot at ya. Looks like I swung and missed on a humorous monkey/banana connection. Classic case of it sounds better in your head than in text scenario.

Back to the bourbon, I gave it another shot on Sunday with a neat pour. Let it develop in the glass for 5 to 7 minutes and, upon drinking, the banana notes were greatly diminished and it was a more enjoyable drink. Since the initial pour was rocks, I'm curious as to whether the "cold" impacted how condensed the vapors and flavors were. Will have to look into that more

Personally, I like 1897 better than 1920 but that’s not a popular take.

1920 reminds me of rubbing alcohol, but I’ve never come across someone with that concern. The flavor is otherwise good and it’s a very smooth drinker, but that hint of rubbing alcohol totally turns me off.

OF 1920 might be my favorite bottle that you can get easily. But I also tend to love higher proof stuff. I get the cherry notes with Buffalo Trace too. Mainly, Eagle Rare though. That is a cherry bomb to me (which I love).

I had a bottle of Weller Full Proof I was saving for a special occasion. I broke it open after Bedlam and that is pretty damn good bottle.

Don't laugh, but I had the chance today to buy my choice of an OWA 107 or a JD Coy Hill at 144 proof. Keep in mind I drink what I buy, and don't flip or trade. I picked the OWA because it by itself is a highly sought bottle and the 107 proof is right in my wheelhouse. I'm sure I will regret the choice when the Coy Hill bottles become true unicorns, but I still got one that is tough to locate at retail, for retail.

I watched the Heist show on Netflix and now all I want to know is how Pappy Van Winkle taste. I assume those are as rare as Bigfoot? That was very interesting how many of you hate Mad Men?

Oh I meant finding it in a store. For 4K to 5k like the show was saying that pays for airline and lodging in Maui for a week and that is my wife’s favorite vacation spot so yes ***** would still be undefeated. I am going to hire Dchi to enter a razz deal for me he seems lucky.

Late to this thread, but do love whiskey. Fan of OF 1920, RB 12, Greenspot, Garrison Bros Cowboy, and Buffalo Trace. Totally agree the market is out of control - Eagle Rare is impossible to find in my neck of the woods, and forget about Blanton’s. Keep the reviews coming - always on the lookout for something different (and available).

Stagg Jr. might be my favorite whiskey (I love high proof stuff). Enjoyed a pour after we beat Notre Dame. I would do unnatural things for an EH Taylor barrel proof.

I think since Buffalo Trace is discontinuing the Stagg Jr. brand, they are only going to go up in secondary value. And the EH Taylor Barrel Proof bottles are going for stupid amounts on the secondary market. Upwards of $600.

This right here rustles my jimmies.

Sadly, most any news associated with Buffalo Trace lately seems to be bad news for the casual whiskey drinker.

I don't think they are doing away with Stagg Jr. From what I've read the are just dropping Jr. from the name.

That’s good news if I’m reading the same correctly.

The bad news is that dropping the Jr and not having a George T. Stagg release at all in 2021 is just going to drive up demand for Jr.
