Was AK allowed to continue with any of his progression - or did CJF control the '3 yards and a cloud of dust' as he usually does in game losing situations ......

So many years later and Alabama's goal line stand is remembered. Doesn't anyone learn from mistakes ?
With a team that is capable - how do you lose from the 3 yard line ?

Funny thing is no one on this board knows for sure either way. Either you believe the 'insiders' who say Franklin, the Head Coach, a former QB and Offensive Coordinator, was totally hands off; or, his imaginative, unpredictable, and creatively successful OC called three straight run plays; or, maybe, some combination of both - Franklin: "think we should run", AK: "got it."

Which is the most believable option given what we know about Franklin and AK? It's like asking did Mike Yurcich, who put up insane offensive numbers at OK ST, suddenly forget how to call plays at Penn State? Did he ever even call plays at OK ST? Or, was he given marching orders? Dunno, but if that's the best AK has, he should be canned too.

So I posted this in the den

Against OSU, since 2015. In the 4th quarter, We have scored one touchdown..

Against OSU, since 2015. In the 4th quarter, We have scored one touchdown..

That was actually meaningful with 9 minutes left in the game.
we have 3 more in garbage time with mostly backups when game was out of hand.

I was thinking of how many touchdowns do we have with 8 minutes left, so I went back and looked up last 10 4th quarters in last 10 years, So basically with 6 offensive coordinators with 150 minutes of play we scored 1 touchdown that actually kept us close in the game.

so what is the hurdle in the James franklin era against osu in the 4th quarter.

Maybe offensive coordinators in the Big 12 are simply overrated given the lack of defense in that conference.

Paterno threw the ball to Fitzke and it looked like he would score but a great hit stoned him. Additionally many folks think Suhey was in on third down. These goal line stands are not the same.

Go back and watch. Franklin didn't have a mic in front of his face, just a headset to listen. So, either he yelled the play to Drew or gave a secret signal like a wink, or AK called it in Drew's ear. 😏

GTFO. Franklin doesn't call the plays

I was going to ask where this assertion comes from. None of us are on the sidelines with headsets to know what is happening.

I will be honest, I would have ran it again another time in both situations. I would have just had Tyler Warren do it.
I'm OK with Allen on 1st down but not the same exact thing on 2nd and 3rd downs. We could have lined up with 2 RBs, one of them being Warren. We could have used 7 OL. The biggest problem IMO is that we did the same exact thing 3 times.

He addressed this in his press conference today. I recommend to listen to it if you really care for an answer.

Warren under center or in the shotgun… spread formation….#71 in motion… no way we get stopped, against anyone
71 in motion has to turn up and make a block.

OSU noticed we were stacking the middle when they were trying to run out the clock so they rolled the QB out to make two critical 1st downs. They made an adjustment. We didn't.

Jedi stuff. Franklin to Allar: “Be with me. Be with me…”

Then fire Kotilnicki. Terrible play calling on par with Michigan swinging fence. If you're only going to get cute against teams you can beat, find someone better.

You really can’t blame Franklin if he isn’t calling the plays. We will anyway, OBVIOUSLY. o_O .

I think AK will learn from this. A few weeks ago he was a genius when Warren went off. Can't keep getting a new OC every year. Odds are if they scored at that point, the defense would have given up a score right back. They had a chance to bury them on the 1 yard line and gave up a 4 yard QB sneak. Defense was gassed on that last drive.

Warren going off should have been a red flag the size of California. Our WR stats in B1G games this year are horrible.

As he usually does? You have no evidence Franklin has ever called any plays, but go on with your confirmation bias. BTW Franklin essentially said in today's press conference that he doesn't really get involved on the headset when plays are being called because that just causes more issues and disruptions with getting the plays in.

Franklin on 1st and goal at the 3 against T™️osu:

”Andy! Andy! Andy! Hang on now. Stop, get a Coke, and watch the magic happen.”

AK teams have not scored a TD in only two games, against Ohio State and against Oklahoma State when he was at Kansas. The DC for both of those teams was and is Jim Knowles. Knowing tendencies may matter here.
This is really an amazing tidbit. Was AK trying to break tendencies? Has Knowles figured out the key to the formations and motion? This comment is probably the hidden gem of the post-mortem.
