(A player other than Williams) Who do you think is most likely to take over a tournament game and 'singlehandedly' get us a W?

I'm gonna go with Oweh. If he's in a matchup where he can get to the rim, and hits a couple early 3s, I could see him taking over a game. I think a healthy Carr has the versatility to take over a game as well. We saw flashes early in the season.

I'd like to add Chandler's name.. not into a list of "who can win us a game", but instead a list of "who can have contribute in a big way".. and I think that's huge for our short handed team.

Williams/Oweh/Brea can win us a game.
Almonor/Perry/Chandler/Carr can be big factors.

Seeing Chandler step up the way he did is going to be big for a team that's desperate to have some other "threats" on the floor.

In terms of taking over a game offensively, there is only one player on this team that can consistently create his own shot (both from the perimeter and driving to the basket) and that's Jaxson Robinson. Everyone else is limited in some way.

There are plenty who can contribute in a significant way. But Jaxon is the only one that has the true consistent go-to-guy ability.

JMO. Feel free to bash if you're feeling froggy.

IDK. Sure, JR can put up points. But I don't think driving to the basket to create buckets is his strong suit. His 'shot creation' is more of a one dribble, mid range jumper or fade away kinda finesse game. He doesn't like trying to get it to the rim. Just how I see it. But, if his shot is on, he could drop 35-40 in a tournament game, for sure.

Not bashing, but both Oweh and Butler are better at getting to the rim off the dribble. Butler has been darn near unstoppable getting to the rim and finishing when he’s healthy.

Oweh especially if he hits outside, even Brea. He could go nuclear and hit 7-8 3’s in the right matchup. Hopefully Carr is getting back to 100%. He looks better every game.

So far on the year:

Butler has gone nuclear.
Robinson has gone nuclear.
Robinson has gone nuclear.

Oweh has had multiple 20 point games.

Amari has been a different animal of late.

Carr kind of took over that Gonzaga game.

With Almanor's shooting, I could see a rare situation where he just goes nuts from 3 and hangs 20 on someone.

Oh, I agree with that. However, Oweh's shot is not consistent. And Butler has trouble getting a jump shot off without a catch and shoot. I'm merely saying that Jaxon (IMO) is the only one who can do it all...consistently.

Pretty much anyone on the team. If you don't know that's the answer, you haven't been watching real close.
Good point. The team has a few who’ve separated themselves w their play but there has been quality play by the lesser players in many games.

Whomever has the matchup advantage in whatever game situation that comes up.

We just have to recognize it and exploit it and execute. I'd LIKE to see Jaxson as the go-to guy in clutch, but I know any single one of them can, and would, do it.

So it all depends on the matchup individually late in the game, recognizing it and executing it.

It might even be a defensive play that is the key ( like Oweh defensively on Flagg earlier this year ) and not who has to go make the last shot. But if it's a shot to be taken, I think Jaxson is the most likely man to drive in the nail for a W.

It will take a "TEAM" to win. No individual will getus a win. Hopefully we have 5 kids that want to play defense, if that happens with our offense multiple wis will be possible. If we don't buckle down on defense, we could easily be one and done.

Being able to stop teams from scoring and getting them in foul trouble will prove beneficial.

Oweh, Williams, Brea, heck even the Kentucky dudes could go off and make big plays....

We have a good team, the problem is sec has been pretty good as well. I don't think this conference has ever been this good as far as the past 20 years or so.

If Carr keeps it up it will be him. He did it in the Duke game and got them the win.

I think we have seen different players take over games

Carr down the stretch vs Duke.
Carr and Robinson down the stretch vs Gonzaga
Butler vs the Tards
Brea vs Florida although the entire team had a good game, but he hit 7 3's in that game
Robinson vs Texas A&M, Miss State
Brea down the stretch in game 2 vs Tennessee
Williams vs Vandy and Arkansas in a lose

Good news is if team is healthy, they have options to ride a hot hand in the tourney. Bad news is can they be healthy and more importantly can they be healthy enough down the stretch to get a decent enough seed to set the team up properly in the tourney. If this team ends season 19-13, 20-12, 21-11 after the tourney their seed will cause them to run a gauntlet. If they can get to say a 22-10 record, they may stay as a top 4 seed and not have to run quite a daunting of a gauntlet.

100 miles from BG.

Ah!

I will actually devote some time this Weekend to learning my western commonwealth geography

I know Ft Campbell is out there somewhere too and apparently some big *** caves ...

I bet its a pretty drive

Even though I live in Winchester I will be heading to BG from Bell Co - so i am probably going through Somerset - never made that drive before (US 80?)

I will jump. Oweh has been the better / most consistent player ALL year. Scores from all 3 levels, hits is free throws, can absorb contact and still finish, and last but not least, put someone on a poster that completely changes the momentum of the game. Robinson has a tendency to shot hunt, and takes very bad ones in succession. He CAN take over, he CAN also shoot you out of it. Oh, and you feel froggy to respond with what I think you are going to, I am ready to counter.

It's about 70 miles to Ft Campbell from BG. Mammoth Cave is close to BG. That is a very pretty drive from Winchester to BG.

Noah took over the Sweet Sixteen. I see no reason he couldn’t do it in the big dance.

Oweh is easily my favorite player on this team. He's the heart of the team. Love that guy.

It's simple for me. Jaxon can hit the three, hit the mid-range, drive to the basket, go one-on-one, hit the step-back three when he's crowded, back his man down and shoot the fadeaway, etc. The best example is the 2nd half of the Gonzaga game. Jaxon has the ability to do it all.

Oweh cannot do all those things. BUT, he's a stud, and I don't want to ever find out how we'd fare without him.
