Fickell 5-10 vs ranked teams with 4 of those wins against teams in his conference. His biggest win vs overrated #9 Notre Dame.

He's a great coach at G5 but failed at P5 level.

What makes anyone think he could win at WVU?

You heard wrong that he withdrew his name before any offer came.

You don't like truth dI get it.
I’d just wanted a clarification to why you said it was wrong. That’s all. Now whether I believe it is entirely a different matter.
Either way, glad he’s not here.

Unnamed sources......ok. I thought on the OT board you blast such ridiculousness?

At least there is an article with this information that was not publically refuted by Fickell. It certainly isn't bullet proof, but it is certainly something compared to the only supporting evidence to the contrary is a lack of evidence. The fact that the current administration has every incentive in the wake of the disaster that Brown has become to save face by claiming they offered a more successful/popular coach but were rejected before settling on Brown, yet haven't, is the only "proof" against the public narrative that Fickell declined the job. It would be nice if a journalist asked either Lyons or Fickell to get an answer on record. Although there is a risk of a non answer to not make Brown look like the 2 at last call for a guy needing a slump buster.

So he's a devout Catholic, but isn't smart enough to research Morgantown schools BEFORE the interview to find out there are no Catholic high school in the region? Sorry, not buying it.
I'm sure he was interested in the job. He gave it due diligence. In any big decision there are negotiables and non-negotiables. Apparently he decided this was a non-negotiable in the end.

I've interviewed places where there was a glaring weakness, and I wondered if the positives could overcome that one weakness.

If Brown, Fickell, and Gibson were the only coaches interviewed for the job, then it doesn’t appear that Lyons put forth much effort in a thorough search.
I agree. But with Dana leaving Jan 1, 2019 it put everything in a rush job. That usually leads to sloppiness and bad hires.

Fickell was offered. He's a devout Catholic and wanted Catholic schools available for his kids. WVU could have freaking build one, hire administrators and teachers and named it after him for a million bucks.

Hated that we missed out on him then and hate it 10x more now.
Exactly accurate

I think he is the man. Forth party sources tell me he has a box of Wheaties in his office with a cut out picture of Dana Holgersen on it.
