Who have been comparable and better duos at PSU Defensive End? This format of DDS and Carter have to be one of the best.

Who was opposite side of Tamba in '05? Can't recall.

Abdul looks to be every bit as impressive in everything as Parsons was and the move to Defensive End $$$ changer on for Penn State Defense and his investment vehicles. DDS, if he keeps up this type of development he might become better than any end Penn State ever had. He's missed important containments, assignments thru the year but the last few weeks seems to be showing Superstar flashes. He's got that Bubba Smith Too-Tall Jones look and demeanor.

Maybe not the best of all time but Deion Barnes and C.J. Olaniyan with Carl Nassib as 3rd DE played quite well

No. Barnes left early. Nassib only had a couple tackles that year. Nassib was good after Barnes left.

You can say Barnes/0laniyan or nassib/sickles the next year.

I think the end opposite of Tamba was Matthew Rice. that line did have Jay Alford in the middle who was very disruptive as a defensive tackle.

IIRC, at the beginning of the season a poster said Abdul’s move was a big mistake and would cost him. Saw a mock draft that he was in the #8-10 range. Just MHO, but I think he has done pretty well this year.
I’m begging, but would like to see DDS return next year.

DDS, White, Granville, Harvey and maybe someone like Williams steps up so that the DE spots are solid.

I will admit, I was one of those who believed the "experiment" of Carter to DE was a failure. I guess that's why I'm a retired mining guy

There is a considerable talent gap between Carter and DDS. While Carter is a great player, I would not use the word great to describe the duo with DDS. As a duo they are very comparable to many past duo DEs at Penn State. Since I’ve followed Penn State football starting in 1972, there have been some great individual DE players, but no great duos.

Carter is actually undersized compared to Bubba Smith and Ed To-Tall Jones. Carter looks more like Lawrence Taylor playing the edge.

Carter staying onside helped his game immensely.

Courtney Brown and whoever the other End was, is up there for best combo ever at PSU…

For the record I think it was Kurpeikus.

Just saw a mock draft that has him going 5th. Maybe the coaches knew what they were doing!

Best all time? Better than Tamba Hali? Bob White? Cortney Brown? I think Bruce Clark was a DE. There were quite a few great ones in the past.

My life experience makes me guess yes, Leinbacker, Absolutely. His developmental growth from a player within this program is impressive. Switched as an All American Linebacker to become an All American Defensive Line-man.

Bruce Clark was a defensive tackle and the best ever DT at Penn State I have seen play.
If we are talking about DTs, don’t forget Rosey Grier. Went on to become part of the fearsome foursome with the LA Rams. Also played an important role in a historic event.

Too bad you didn't see Mike Reid and Steve Smear. Bruce Clark and Bruce Millen were outstanding; 2nd place is nothing to be sneered at.

As good as Carter and DDS are. I don't think that they are as good as Robinson and Isaac a year ago. It didn't hurt that DDS was the third guy.

BTW, Carter is still better in space. The best way to shut him down is to run straight at him. He really didn't have a great start to the season but in the Ilinois game it was becoming obvious that he was figuring it out and he's been really good ever since. DDS got hurt in the Wisconsin game and has really only become a force in the last couple of games, but if he was playing at 80% or something like that. What do you expect? Against OSU, he barely saw the field.

It doesn't hurt that we probably have the best DT rotation right now that we have had under Franklin. We really haven't had many NFL good DTs since 2014. Have we had more than 4 guys see the NFL? I think Mustipher had a chance to be special prior to the knee. Early in 2021, he was looking unblockable prior to the Iowa game.

You mean the game where he faked injury to slow down Iowa's warp speed offense, and was boo'd by the self righteous sick kid waving fans?
