Well, it heard Lynn signed an extension yesterday.

I doubt they will get Jim Knowles wrestled away from Ohio State.

Wasnt Banks here once? He is the DC at Tennessee - why would he come back? (I have no idea about his relationship with CJF).

Don't know much about the other guys.

I don't think Knowles comes here either. Rumor boards say he has developed a frosty relationship with Day.
Banks---
On January 18, 2016, Penn State head coach James Franklin announced Tim Banks as the Nittany Lions’ co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach.[11][12]

In 2017, safeties Marcus Allen received All-Big Ten first team honors, while Troy Apke received honorable mention.[13] That season the Nittany Lions' defense helped Penn State to its second-straight New Year's Six bowl and a Top 10 finish. Also the 16.5 points allowed per game was the fewest since the 2008 team gave up 12.2 per contest.[14] Both starting safeties were selected in the 2018 NFL draft, Apke in the fourth round, 109th overall and Allen in the fifth round, 148th overall.[15][16]

In 2018, safety Garrett Taylor earned honorable mention All-Big Ten honors.[17] Penn State secondary had one of its best seasons since 2014, finishing the season with 13 interceptions and allowing a 53.6 completion rate.[18] The Nittany Lions also held three opponents to 60 or less yards through the air, this was the first time PSU had accomplished this feat since the 1976 season.[19] Safety Nick Scott was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the seventh round (243rd overall) of the 2019 NFL draft.[20]

In 2019, both starting safeties Garrett Taylor and Lamont Wade received honorable mention All-Big Ten honors.[21]
2/2021 he became DC at Rocky Top.

Yeah, I read the Wikipedia entry on Banks as well.

He was here for 4 years, so that says something, I guess.

Knowles will lose 8- 9 starters on D, a reload for OSU, he'd have a pretty good hand to
work with at PS.
Haines at Indy put up some good numbers, one of the higher ranked Big 10 defenses.
Banda from the Browns, a disciple of Diaz is interesting.
Rossi from Mich. St. made Minnesota defenses very tough, again interesting.
Finally Dex from PS, seems to ME, that he's waiting for a HC job, but would have to
commit to 2- 3 years.
Knowles is a Grand Slam, Dex probably team favorite, I like Rossi and Haines.

The Haynes Sisters would be a home run hire.

My heart says Dex but in the end I just want the best fit. We're gonna be 1 of the favorites to win it all next year and a bad hire could screw that up.

I think it'll get done quick, so we're ready to go in the Spring.

So, Knowles or Golden? Or some guy who is in the NFL playoffs (ruling out Banta).
I can't say. But I know a guy who knows a guy who has a second cousin who once met somebody who might know something.

D’Anton Lynn can’t be happy USC hired Rob Ryan as assistant head coach for defense and lb coach.

It's going to be a revolving door whichever route they take. You buy 2 years hiring from within, but get a lesser product (usually). I'd love to have USC's DC, but he just re-upped and he would be a 2 year guy anyway.

PSU's defense is on auto pilot. That's the least of my concern. I'd like to hire Bob Rotella for Drew, and some Co-Ed strippers for incoming receivers.
