Nothing new there, but good information if someone hasn’t been following and needs to catch up.

Honestly, I don’t care who we pick, as long as they are ready to overhaul the defense into something that the team deserves. They need to be free to do whatever it takes:
Scheme, assistant coaches, players.

We don’t need a “yes man”. We need a pioneer that can put together a defense that can both continue to win the Big XII & win on the national big boy level.

Some steam building behind Grinch's name. LR has kept the lid so tight on this though I don't think anyone outside of LR himself knows.

Whoever it is I hope they love to get after the QB, shut down the running game and knock receivers on their *** or at least let them know there’s a defender just across the LOS from them.

Great LB play with disruptive D-Lineman who actually make sacks and tackles in the backfield are the key to any great defense.

Hard for a QB to get the ball to a WR who’s got a DB draped on him while you’re running for life.

And we need to get some attitude. Bad intention attitude.

Personally, I'd take the Alabama guy based on the information we have available.

Historically, it appears we're in the same situation Florida was in the mid 90s. They had a brilliant, offensively minded HC in Steve Spurrier but couldn't win the NC until they brought in a hungry, young DC from Kansas State. Give me this decade's version of the 90's Bob Stoops and I'll take it...8^)

Golding or Shoop would be the gold standard. Scalley is next on my list then Grinch. Grinch does not excite me very much.

I'm not interested in position coaches or mid-major coordinators, eliminating Freeman and Schumann from my list. Our aim should be high, for the very top guy. We shouldn't settle for a Cincy DC or a position coach.
