that's why i think n its more of a mental preparation thing than a talent thing, bc against the easy teams we look legitThis team would run that team off the floor. The 2023-24 Cards beat the UMBC Retrievers by only 1 at home, lost to Chattanooga at home, lost @Depaul, lost to Arkansas State at home, and other bad losses, and finished 8-24.
To me, that is the strangest thing about this team, in that they are running teams they're supposed to out of Rupp. Usually the teams we have here like Cal's 2020-21 team, Gillispie's teams, etc., lose to those bad teams at home (think Gardner Webb), but they are at least competitive in the high profile games.
This team is blowing out the bad competition and then acting like they are the bad competition against top teams.
The 9-16 team was every bit as bad as this team.payne by 50
the 9-16 team would destroy us
I'm not trying to be a sunshine pumper I'm really not, but three of the losses have been against legitimate top ten teams. Two (Louisville and Michigan State) may be top five teams and Gonzaga could be in that conversation by year's end. We had UNC beat until our guys forgot how to score. We may just be a fringe top 25 team that ran into three buzzsaws. Yes Gonzaga was inexcusable. I think the Indiana game will tell us a lot . It will either be the nail in the coffin, or the game that allows us all to take a deep breath and relax a little. This team would run that team off the floor. Do you see the effort? The awful coaching? Oweh yawning going to the bench.I'm not trying to be a sunshine pumper I'm really not, but three of the losses have been against legitimate top ten teams. I do and yes that is really concerning, but I also see those same guys loose and having fun against bad competition. When they get punched in the mouth they fold and it's not acceptable I'm just saying the blowouts are against really good teams. Indiana is decent, so let's see what they do against them. If they show the same effort as Gonzaga and get beat or run off the court it will show me everything I need to know.Do you see the effort? The awful coaching? Oweh yawning going to the bench.
