Why are we redshirting potter/ Hawthorne?

Last year and this year one of my biggest complaints about Pope is he'll never try a small ball lineup, I know we'll struggle defensively but we were already struggling defensively, I would of liked to see Jelavich at the five here and there for way better spacing.

Benny logic:

team drops 96 on us; we need more shooters!
Louisville's high-powered offense scores 77 if we don't gift them 19 points off turnovers.

Turnovers don't happen on defense.

I think shooters could help spacing and opening up passing lanes, but I'm not sure if shooters are the end all be all. That said, I'll be happy when the guys seem like they know what they're doing on offense because giving Louisville 19 points really irks me.

Im not as concerned about them redshirting as i am about us spending nil on two guys that wont see the floor. Especially considering it isnt a guarantee they even stay.

Their money should've gone towards upgrading another position.

An extra possible year of NIL earnings is the only logical explanation.

I know we're frustrated with the loss and it's easy to question the coach after a loss. I'll still give Pope the benefit of the doubt: If he sees Hawthorne and Potter every day in practices and thinks they need to redshirt--I'm good with it.

People always say "It can't get any worse." It absolutely can get worse. We lost by 8. Maybe we lose by 15 if we're forcing minutes to guys that aren't ready.

Why give up a year of NIL and eligibility for 2 minutes of garbage time in a dozen games?
If either were good enough to help us this year they would not be redshirting.

I know but we had issues with clogging the floor l, that caused some of the turnovers, just saying. I know potter probably is slower because he's a seven footer. I believe in pope so if he thinks it'll benefit long run so he it.
