Now you got me thinking ... that's a scary thought.

I've disliked Pitt for a whole lot of years. Living in the 'burgh, and witnessing years and years of their frustration with their football coach(es), one major gripe they've had has been a lack of continuity in their program.
Of course, they were always comparing themselves with PSU which had been the epitome of football coaching continuity (at least until 2011). I used to be able to name all of their football coaches during Joe Paterno's regime. Trust me, it was a sizeable list.

Narduzzi has given them 12 years of coaching mediocrity, having a good year or two, some truly epic bad years, but mostly they have been competitive but usually not coming out on top at the end of the season.

I suspect that the Pitt administration, supporters, donors, and fans are content with their football fortunes. I anxiously await to see how they get shafted in Atlanta on Saturday evening.

Go after BGJ?
They might have gone after James. How would we know if they did or didn't? If so, James probably thumbed his nose at them. He knows his best (and maybe only) skill is recruiting and it is impossible to recruit at pitt. James wold never be able to overcome the putrid fan base, no stadium, "campus" in a ghetto, no NIL money, etc. James is not a fit at pitt.

Before Lyke was shown the door, she signed Dooz to an extension which runs through 2030 for over $7 million/year . They can't afford to ditch him and be on the hook for that kind of money.

We had Barbour. Running true to form, Pitt had to mimic Penn State with Lyke.
