I bet UK’s opponents don’t shoot as good of a percentage during warmups as they do during games. Defense is not good, but these crap teams just go off against us. It’s not new, but I’m sick of it!!

Yes. We've reaped the benefit of the 3 point lottery. It's pretty much our defense.

We don't force turnovers. We basically hope the opponent misses threes to get the ball back.
It is absolutely insane how right you are.

Our defense seems to give everybody confidence. They know they can get to the rim whenever they want. So they can shoot the three with confidence!

Because we don't have athletes who can stay in front of their guys off the dribble so we sag off and give them space around the perimeter and play the percentages. The problem is the percentages increase quite a lot when 3s are wide open.
I agree with this being part of the problem but we have poor defensive technique. We close out on buys with our hands down way too many times. Multiple times last night we were guarding 3 point shooters with our hands at our waist or knees and didn't have time to react and get our hands up when they rose up and drained a 3 in our face. You don't have to be athletic to play with good fundamentals.

Let's not act like those last three teams are good 3 point shooting teams. Miss St. is shooting 32% from 3 (ranked 263rd in the country), A&M is shooting 31.5% (285th), and Tenn 33.2% (199th). Gonzaga shot poorly from 3 that game, but so did we at 7-25. We were also without of starting PG the entire game and our backup PG for half the game against Gonzaga. Let's put a little context on those numbers.

If you're playing at team outside the top 200 in 3P% and you're short handed, it's probably wise to guard against the 2 and let them shoot more 3s than usual.

True, but you gotta admit Ole Miss was hitting even the few contested threes we guarded. Like Arkansas, they won’t hit that well again all year.
Having said that, our D is pathetic.
When they are initial getting open shots from unguarded 3, then they will get hot, confidence will get up, and then will make contested three.

That three when Kentucky was sort of making a comeback in Brea's face, that was guarded.
