my whole life we have played on sat then tuesday or wednesday.
then cal started playing ooc games on friday.
now pope is trying to put butts in seats to raise money.
does anybody realize that there are a few thousand familys in KY that have children playing high school football? alot of those empty seats are due to people at hs games. seems like poor planning to me.

Were you honestly planning to spend $300 or $400 to take your family to watch practice? The entire idea was a bad one. At least with professional sports I pay for a ticket and don’t have people begging me for donations at every opportunity.

UK only plays 2 Friday games: Jackson State on Nov 22 and Georgia State on Nov 29. They also play football games on the following Saturdays: Texas on Nov 23 and Louisville on Nov 30.

UK isn't trying to cannibalize itself by putting on competing basketball and football events. Most high school teams will be eliminated from playoff contention by these dates.

Tuesday/Saturday is a conference thing.

Early season is random and is meant to not clash with football.

You don’t see a lot of Saturday college basketball games until the period between the conference championship football games and bowl season. I have been to Friday UK basketball games under Pitino, Tubby, Gillispie and Cal. Most of them were in November.

I remember even back in the 80s some exhibition or early season games on a Monday, Friday as well. Heck we even had 1 or two (over all not per year) on a Sunday.

Back on JP network 70s there would be early Sunday SEC games that started at Noon. By the time we got home it might be 10 minutes remaining in the first half. Heck after I could drive, I would sneak out the back door at benediction 10 minutes before noon and get to the house about 1 minute into the first half. LSU vs UK game when HiC carter played for LSU was one of those I remember. Also a Bama game with maybe Robert Horry was another (not 100% on that one).

Yep. This needs to end with collective bargaining and profit sharing from the TV contracts and then a salary cap for recruiting…. NIL goes back to being what it was intended, autographs, commercials, product endorsement etc once you are in season if you’re a freshman and sophomores-seniors can be used year round for CBB promos Etc ….not a collective buying players on the schools behalf

Do you expect Pope to call up all fans and see if they have conflicting events?

Should be even more Friday games for all those who complain about having to get up early the next day for work during the midweek 9 PM games.
