Why go Back to Towles?

I'm dumbfounded by the decision to go back to Patrick. I love the guy, but he is flat out not an SEC quarterback. The offense is lethargic, at best, with him at the helm. Sure Drew threw a pick six but at this point I would take that mistake from a young Barker learning the ropes of quarterbacking in the SEC. His long completion to Badet was flat out an incredible throw. He got hit while he was throwing it and still hit Badet right in stride. Stoops says he wants to get experience for the young guys because the older guys aren't able to make the plays. Well why not apply that to the QB position as well? A quarterbacks job is to throw his receivers open, Towles throws his receivers covered. Hell, he throws his receivers covered even if they are wide open with the high throws and the throws behind the receivers and the low throws. All I'm saying is you know what you're getting with Towles at this point. 9 TD's and 13 picks. That fade he threw to Dorian in the end zone was an absolutely terrible throw. He threw it too deep for Baker to be able to get a foot down even if he did make the catch but not deep enough to get it out of the end zone and it was picked off. That is Patrick Towles in a nutshell. If Patrick starts either of the two remaining games this season, I'm done with the team for the season. Stoops seems to making the decision to either live or die with Towles, and he will die with him 9 times out of 10. Ok, rant over. haha.

What did you say to yourself when Timmons and Johnson dropped two passes right in there hands to start game? I'm sure it was Pats fault in your mind. You throw those stats out but how many drops you going to allow Baker before you call him out.

I am all for Barker getting a chance and of course he has 3 TD passes this year...unfortunately two are to our opponent

Can't read that mess of a post, try formatting it please.

Answering the title, simply put Barker wasn't ready. As mad as we are as fans at Towles lack of ability Barker couldn't read after his first drive and we gave him a shot even after the INT and the coaches did not want to do more damage than good to the kid.

He got some reps vs a very good defense. Now he should start vs Charlotte and get experience. At half time an evaluation of whether to go back to Towles should be done and again after the game.

I don't know if Barker is the answer, and neither you or the other posters do. The one thing most of us know, is, Towles is NOT the answer. The only way we will know about Barker is to get him more touches. It appears that Stoops is not going to let that happen. Why, none of us really have the answer. It reminds me a lot of Tubby, when he tried to play players who were not capable of playing in the SEC, just to prove he knew what he was doing. We know the results of that.

OLD STOLL FIELD GUY!
