Very good point. We sure could have used last week on those two goal line possessions. Dawson has got to get better as a play caller.

It makes you wonder about the staff when we have Jo Jo, Conrad, and now Hyde hidden on the bench for so long until they finally get their chance.

It also looked like you could put Middleton on the field on defense for certain situations without giving up too much

How does what anyone did against Charlotte make a case for being able to do more of it or that we ought to do more of it? They were complete inept.

Against Vandy on the Pick Towles threw in the end zone, we came out in heavy set with Towles going under center, and Stoops called a time out. We then came out in spread and Towles checks out of the run and throws the pick. Can't lay that one on the OC he had us in a heavy formation before the time out.

Not sure why they have not used Hyde in goal line situations more. Whether he actually blocks anyone just his size alone takes up space and at least 2 defenders and gives our backs a small crease. Typically all you need is a yard or two. Both Boom and JoJo can hide behind him if nothing else.

I have to say, on defense I was very impressed with the guys that were playing at the end of the game. Josh Allen was all over the place and recorded a sack. He is still a bit small, but when he gets the weight on him he'll be a beast. Miggins was pretty disruptive in the middle of our 3-4. He was getting into the backfield quite frequently. Middleton was also in there making some big plays in the 3-4.

I know this was the end of a blowout and you can't take a ton away from it, but all year long our defense has not really done a whole lot in terms of getting into the backfield. Even against the weaker teams. Last night at the end of the game they were really getting back there and being disruptive. These are all pretty young guys that were actually making the plays themselves. During that time Blaylock (7) was in the game as was Henderson. These linebackers weren't making a ton of plays because the line was doing it. That's not something that we have seen a lot of this year. Forrest and Flanigan are usually the guys getting most of the tackles. Late in the game, the line was getting them and that was great to see.

Hyde got a pretty good hit on a guy last night,at that size if you make contact it creates some space

Yep^ I was about to wet myself I was so happy to see them up under center in the power formation and then.....

I wouldnt let up on that the rest of the game at my house and still wonder whose idea it was to abandon that set

I know hindsight is 20/20 but it is hard not to think that Hyde on the goal line at Vandy doesn't change the outcome
If you were to watch any replays from earlier in the seaosn, Hyde was completely lost as a fullback. Missing blocks, going the wrong way, falling down. It wasn't pretty.
