Why is everyone quick to give Coach of the Year to Tubby???

Huggs' team was preseason #6 in conference rankings, and is now #2, with the possibility of being a #2 seed in the NCAA tourney. In my opinion (although biased), Huggins is your Big 12 COY.

So can you name 5 coaches that deserve coach of the year over Huggs? Would he be a better coach if the media had higher expectations?

Don't waste your breath. This poster has been one of the biggest Huggs naysayers since his hire. Why this person is allowed to post on here is beyond me. All this poster does is negative negative negative. Like a whining B****! Oh, well, that explains it all then........

I don't really care if LowFatMilk likes Huggs or not, just would honestly like to hear who they think should get it over him, especially in the Big XII.

Recruiting...and high expectations (that are met)... ...shouldn't eliminate a coach from consideration.
I do agree, I also think that exceeding expectations should count a little more! Not saying Self isn't deserving, just saying my vote would go to Huggs!!

Not all coaching jobs are equal. You've got to look at the coaches circumstances.
I understand that, and we were picked to finish 6th, 4 spots below where we did!! Tech only finished 3 above their projection, and only teams they're above are the bottom feeders of the league who we swept, along with them!!

I didn't even mention Huggs... ...who has done a great job.

I wonder why he came to your mind.

So the OP starts a thread about Huggs over coming low expectations, you reply about low expectations..pretend Huggs had nothing to do with your reply about low expectations, then blame it all on the OP's "mind". lol That's some crazy right there.:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I'm in the Tubby did a great job and Self's string of championships are incredible crowd. But the coach of the team that was picked 6th and finishes 2nd in the highest rated RPI conference in years is the coach deserving of COY honors.

You are an ASSHAT! GO F**K OFF and stop hijacking threads with your anti-Huggins propaganda.

She/he isn't anti-Huggins, it's anti-poster crap over and over again. Then when you point something out she plays dumb. It's a routine that she looks forward to in her pathetic life. She just likes phucking with posters. She goes against the grain every chance there is.

First, not offended. Second, it's not a fair point, much less a great one. It's not even a truthful point.

You'd have a hard time proving that an opinion (such as the one I expressed) isn't "truthful".

Sorry if you disagree...but it is an Internet forum so that will happen from time to time.

Huggs deserves it, no doubt. Taking nothing from Self but it's easier (and expected) to win at a high level with the kind of recruits he brings in. We were a sweet16 team last year but lost some major pieces, hence the preseason lack of love. Take nothing from Tubby but WVU finishing 2nd is deserving of a C.O.Y. for Huggs. He does more with less (think injuries and suspensions). Crazy to think of having that many players who can plug and play

I'm not sure but has a coach ever had a team place 7 out of 10 and been named coach of the year in that league? Tubby did a nice job at tech and deserves credit, but coy? Seems a bit extreme considering all of the great coaching jobs in the big 12 this year.

Tubby won 19 times on the nation's 2nd hardest schedule

With a bunch of nobodies.....

It's not like Hugg's schedule was easy, nor is it like WVU is filled with NBA talent either.....I favor the guy that finished 2nd, when picked 6th, and has his team in the top 10.....or even a guy who coaches a team that has won the league 12 times like Bill Self.....just saying.

Bill Self ALWAYS deserves coach of the year in the Big 12...

Your joking? It is easy to win at programs like Kentucky, Duke, and Kansas. With a fraction of the talent, Hugs has molded this team in his image. One that plays harder than any team in the country. He is building a program at WVU with much less resources and clearly deserves COY. Coming into the season, WVU was unranked because nobody thought WVU could replace the two of the key parts lost from last years team. And yet, at the end of the season WVU ranked in the top 10 and is a 10 point loss at the number 1 team in the country away from winning the regular season conference championship, in what is by far the toughest conference

It is a lot harder taking a team thought to be a middle of the road team that finishes 2nd in the toughest conference than it is for a team to finish 7th that was thought to finish last.

Actually, it would be fairly easy to demonstrate your opinion lacks a basis in truth. I could just list HOF coaches who led preseason unranked teams to NC's. I would start with Rollie Massimino.

So, who specifically actually VOTES for the Big12 Coach of the Year? I'm guessing that the composition of the voters has more to do with who wins than actual accomplishments of the coaches. I think Huggins has done a hell of a job and that there are some pretty damn good coaches in this conference.

The 'shiny shoes' determine who gets the COY award. Be satisfied with the selection............whoever it is. Heck, the award is worth million$. Huggs better hope he get$ it.

Depends which site you use for sos. Sagarin has Texas as #1 and Kansas #2 sos. Tech is 8 and wvu is 11 not much difference. Texas ooc schedule was much more difficult than techs. smart winning 20 games with that schedule is just as impressive as tubby, plus Huggs won last year so they need to spread it around a little.

You do realize Self actually has to RECRUIT those players to Kansas? They don't just magically appear on the court in KU jerseys. Self's conference title streak is one of the most impressive in sports IMO and he certainly is deserving of COY.

You seem to think Self just rolls the ball out there and lets them play. Kansas has been the hunted team for over a decade and they still win the damn league every single season.

The Big COY took it on the chin last night. You would think the COY could pull a rabbit out of the hat.............considering they were playing TCU. Huggs is the real Big COY!
