Huggs' team was preseason #6 in conference rankings, and is now #2, with the possibility of being a #2 seed in the NCAA tourney. In my opinion (although biased), Huggins is your Big 12 COY.
The best coaches don't need to overcome poor preseason expectations.
So can you name 5 coaches that deserve coach of the year over Huggs? Would he be a better coach if the media had higher expectations? The best coaches don't need to overcome poor preseason expectations.

I don't really care if LowFatMilk likes Huggs or not, just would honestly like to hear who they think should get it over him, especially in the Big XII.Don't waste your breath. This poster has been one of the biggest Huggs naysayers since his hire. Why this person is allowed to post on here is beyond me. All this poster does is negative negative negative. Like a whining B****! Oh, well, that explains it all then........
You are an ASSHAT! GO F**K OFF and stop hijacking threads with your anti-Huggins propaganda.
Guess we just disagree, I think a coach that outdoes expectations with less talented players deserves it!!!Bill Self ALWAYS deserves coach of the year in the Big 12...
Not gonna disagree, tubby has done a great job, but we far exceeded expectations!! Much harder to finish 2nd than 7th!!We were a Sweet 16 team last year and returned a lot of pieces. Tubby has done a good job.

I do agree, I also think that exceeding expectations should count a little more! Not saying Self isn't deserving, just saying my vote would go to Huggs!!Recruiting...and high expectations (that are met)... ...shouldn't eliminate a coach from consideration.
I understand that, and we were picked to finish 6th, 4 spots below where we did!! Tech only finished 3 above their projection, and only teams they're above are the bottom feeders of the league who we swept, along with them!!Not all coaching jobs are equal. You've got to look at the coaches circumstances.
I didn't even mention Huggs... ...who has done a great job.
I wonder why he came to your mind.
Thoughtless comment. The best coaches don't need to overcome poor preseason expectations.
Because it's a thread about why Huggins deserves coach of the year. Sorry. You have no plausible deniability.I didn't even mention Huggs... ...who has done a great job.

Actually you're only offended because it's a great point.
First, not offended. Second, it's not a fair point, much less a great one. It's not even a truthful point.Actually you're only offended because it's a great point.

Tubby won 19 times on the nation's 2nd hardest schedule
With a bunch of nobodies.....
Bill Self ALWAYS deserves coach of the year in the Big 12...
It is a lot harder taking a team thought to be a middle of the road team that finishes 2nd in the toughest conference than it is for a team to finish 7th that was thought to finish last.I'm not sure but has a coach ever had a team place 7 out of 10 and been named coach of the year in that league? Tubby did a nice job at tech and deserves credit, but coy? Seems a bit extreme considering all of the great coaching jobs in the big 12 this year.
Actually, it would be fairly easy to demonstrate your opinion lacks a basis in truth. I could just list HOF coaches who led preseason unranked teams to NC's. I would start with Rollie Massimino. You'd have a hard time proving that an opinion (such as the one I expressed) isn't "truthful".
Sorry if you disagree...but it is an Internet forum so that will happen from time to time.
Your joking? It is easy to win at programs like Kentucky, Duke, and Kansas. With a fraction of the talent, Hugs has molded this team in his image. One that plays harder than any team in the country. He is building a program at WVU with much less resources and clearly deserves COY. Coming into the season, WVU was unranked because nobody thought WVU could replace the two of the key parts lost from last years team. And yet, at the end of the season WVU ranked in the top 10 and is a 10 point loss at the number 1 team in the country away from winning the regular season conference championship, in what is by far the toughest conference
Didn't you say WVU wouldn't finish in the top 5 in the Big12? How's that working out?:flush:The best coaches don't need to overcome poor preseason expectations.
