Why is Notre Dame a given for the playoffs?

OU has talent on defense, for the most part. Heck, even Bookie who seems to be lost is a 5-star recruit so you just never know when they might click like OSU did against Michigan. There were several times OU's defense looked good this year and several times they looked bad. If they can just play a complete game, OU could beat any team in the nation.

It helped that Michigan only runs the ball. They aren’t a good offense.

Just a FYI 2 people have to leave the room when OU is discussed. Joe C and Beamer. I have heard due to the situation that when both are discussed all 3 are now being required to leave the room.

So the narrative OSU is getting hosed doesnt apply here.

I would say OU is getting hosed. Is there any B12 advocate still in the room?

Funny how sports pundits said the conference NEEDED a conference championship to make the playoffs after TCU, even if we undefeated .. and now it doesn’t matter for ND...

Notre Dame is a given because they are essentially an arrogant Whorn, without the puke orange uniforms.

There have always been special rules for Notre Dame. Money most likely.

They used to have even more special rules. Almost guarantee BCS bowl game. But at 12-0 anyone in a power 5 or ND is going to make the playoffs. Hell, Baylor or TCU would have easily made it if they had of been undefeated few years back. Once you get the 1 loss, there will always be comparisons. Go undefeated and you take that off the table. Most undefeated teams I can remember was 3 the year Auburn got left out.

College Football Playoff Committee Criteria Rule Book.
Rule 1. Must be power 5 and win your Conference, preferably undefeated.
* Denotes excluded teams.

*Notre Dame
*Alabama
*Most of SEC but not all, excludes KY, Ark, Vandy, Ole Miss, Miss St, South Carolina but none of those teams will ever make it anyway.

Rule 2. Must be in sec to get two teams in from same conference.

Rule 3. What to do when 4 SEC teams have only one loss each?
See rule 1. If Notre Dame has one loss then they are out because they did not win any Conference Title but the other 3 one loss SEC teams did not either but hey thats ok its the sec, everyone gets a title in the sec sec sec conference.

Rule 4. When in doubt just vote how espin tells you to vote.

Rule 5. Hey all you other Schools out there, win all your games and you get in, maybe. See Rules 1-4

:p thats how I envision it.

It was actually 4. OU, USC, Aub and Utah.

I don't blame the media (ESPN and others) for OU's possible exclusion from the playoffs or for Notre Dame getting in the final 4.
Today's game may, once again, reveal why OU has fallen short of national championship relevance. Without any semblance of a decent defense, OU has and will continue to paint itself in a corner. While Texas has had modest success scoring this year, against OU last October, the Horns dazzled OU's puny defense. How is it going to be different today ?
It will always haunt me that two of the greatest offenses in CFB history (the 2017 and 2018 Sooners) could not win a championship.
To be sure, I hope OU somehow can somehow keep winning and bring home a championship. But it will be like watching a one-armed man win a boxing match without even a minimal defensive success.
But I'll bite on picking a 47-42 OU win.

Funny stuff. If you posted this on the main board after UGA upset Bama and they still got in it would become a classic 10 page thread
