I put up a question earlier in the week about a QB I am going to see this week and I come back to the site earlier today and its gone.

Wondering why do posts get deleted?? Is it guys talking down on kids?? If that's the case get a life.

This isn't to start anything up, just curious.

Threads are dropping like flies.

Coach replacement thread still up though. It’s lasted longer than I thought it would.

Deletion of threads is very subjective. Sometimes Edgy let's em go if there is entertainment value. I was amazed at how long he allowed the Dumpster Fire thread to go. Truly legendary. I don't know if we'll ever see anything like it again. I feel bad for the "seasonal" posters who were not checking in during March/April to experience it.

As I say frequently, Edgy hates political posts and it's his board. So, if a thread starts to lead that way, it's history.

Yes, I am most certainly guilty, here. To be honest, I love a good fight (at my age, an oral fight) and I hate bullies.

Also, some comments get really nasty. When that happens, it's scrammo.

I will admit that I really enjoy getting into it with you guys.

Love ya!

MC:

Tim will tolerate threads in which politics and high school football intersect. For example: When lawmakers on your side of the political divide in the Illinois General Assembly advance crackpot legislation aiming to curtail contact drills, edgy is content as long as ruminations don't slip off the rails.

I, too, am guilty of engaging in the verboten, but if you, MC, will allow me to indulge in excuse making commonly invoked by those in your political orbit, it's not my fault.

The QB in question has a live arm. He's a good prospect. Keep an eye on his footwork. Sometimes it gets a bit messy, and balls might sail on you even if you have great arm strength like him if the feet get tangled up/shoulder flies open. That said, he has good hips and can really get them around when throwing on the run. Pretty good athlete at the 6A high school level - probably not a dual-threat guy at P5 level but will certainly be mobile enough in the pocket and could take advantage of some open space. Keep in mind the offense that his team runs. It's like a modified triple option, and only modified to take advantage of him at QB. So the ball is in his hands a lot (like I said, he is an accomplished runner at HS level and has hurdled some players this year), but he may only get around 12-15 throws per game depending on game flow. Will that limit his development? Of course he could use some more throws, but he also gets to partly work from under center in this offense. While it may not be the best fit for him as a passer with so much raw arm talent, there's a learning curve (physical and mental) for most QBs when moving up and he can certainly take something away from his time in this system.

Decision making could use some work, but who couldn't get better at making decisions as a sophomore in high school? Great frame, could very well end up being 6'6ish while retaining some mobility. I don't think that he's quite as tall as some say, but he's definitely not far off. Curious as to how he fills out, lanky guy but an athletic build. Have you researched what happened in his last game? Caught a break at the end, so how will he bounce back? Will he be a bit less aggressive when running the ball? Does he show the state that it was meant to be and comes out slinging frozen ropes in gratitude to the FG gods?

Good supporting cast - look out for WRs #1 and #80. #1 is a solid athlete who has made some great one handed grabs this season and is the type of player who might not make an impact on every play but can change the game in a single play. #80 is an accomplished route runner with reliable hands and is a willing blocker. He's a D1 guy. Question is at what level? It's hard to tell in this offense. Camps will really, really be his ticket. That and playing with this QB. #6 is a nice RB, all-purpose guy who can lower his shouler. Maybe another solid RB in there, too. Definitely a complete offense.

Is this QB comparable to other QB mentioned? Of course he is! His offers are no joke. But is he at the same stage of development? No... and it's not really that close. Certainly more of a testament to the other guy, though. That guy has special arm talent, play-making skills, and ability to read the game. Can be the best QB out of IL in some time, and maybe even going back much further than that. With this said, QB in question has the chance to be a national level prospect who will be making big strides (literally and figuratively) in the coming years.

Also, the young QB on the other team in this game is well worth a mention. Gifted athlete. Will go D1 in some sport.

You were coming off like a second grader as well IWBCH.
Isn't it always a second grade conversation when it comes to having dialogue with any of you? I mean, you can even manage to turn compliments into insults. Get lost.

From what I’ve seen - here are the danger areas for threads getting flushed.

1. Political debates. MC63 gun ban thread lasted so much longer than I thought (probably because it was the offeseaon and everyone was busy in the dumpster fire thread except 2 or 3 posters.) I wanted to jump in there so bad and had to restrain myself.

2. Calling out players in negative light - huge no no and quick on the flush handle.

3. Calling out coaches - some leeway usually is given here, but when it goes off the rails - flush is quick and decisive.

4. Religion debates - don’t have many of those - but when they do they usually cross into the political area as well.

5 select trolling threads - when they get ugly they get flushed (it’s what finally killed the dumpster fire thread).

IMO posters weren't 'talking down a particular kid', it's just a few didn't like what he/she was reading, be it stated opinions or facts.

People will still be talking about the Dumpster Fire thread 5 and 10 years from now.

I have a hard time believing there will ever be anything like it ever again.

I’m proud to say I participate in most deleted threads - and truth be told, most posts that cause actuation of the plunging mechanism.

I got one deleted in which I called out some unacceptable behavior by an assistant coach. The head coach agreed to fore said assistant for the behavior, so he obviously agreed that it was unacceptable. How did that thread get deleted? There were two responses that I never got to see.

Sensational posts are sensational. Give it time, everything is always the "most" until the next time when it suddenly gets dethroned by the next "most".

We’re you around for the Dumpster Fire thread? Did you participate in that one?

40+ pages. Not sure how many posts and views. It was burning for a full 2 months.

@Voodoo Tatum 21 - do you have the stats?

I found the Dumpster Thread boring. The entire thing was moronic.

Cat Box:

I jumped into the now-ignominious "Dumpster Fire" thread midway through its existence. I had read the first few posts with interest, but some poster quickly derailed it, creating utter pandemonium. I made a few posts and swiftly retreated because I found I was too often opening a new tab to edgy's site and going back as many as five pages just to seek clarity to express my opinion. A thoroughly exhausting and confusing exercise, it reminded me of reading one of John le Carré's later novels.

I don’t think the dumpster fire thread length will ever be broken. It approached but did not hit 2000 posts in the thread and mid to high 40’s for the number of pages. I don’t have an exact count as it got flushed - but I had an exec Recap of the first 1000 posts and in it I noted there were another 800 posts for a part 2 recap I still needed to do (and then flush).

I wish you could see how hard I am laughing right now as I read your post. Absolutely hilarious. I imagine you being both stunned and intrigued by the sheer volume of nonsense - then as you describe, going back five pages to obtain relative understanding prior to posting. A thoughtful and thorough man like you cannot retort in knee-jerk fashion, so I can imagine how tedious this must have been for you.

To say "utter pandemonium" is accurate.

Like a Soap Opera, you could could dip in and out and catch of with basic stories, but when it got down to longitude/latitude of Limestone Township and farming subsidies ... not to mention trusts and tax status ... my Goodness, that took research.

I fully expect to have a Dumpster Fire "anniversary thread" to commemorate this Edgy legend along with help from:
@Voodoo Tatum 21
@jwarigaku

This would be an appropriate time for Voodoo to re-post the Executive Summary of the first 1000 posts.

I will repost the exec recap in March when Edgy is spending more time with Mrs Edgy during the off-season and before 7v7 and not watching the threads as closely!

The exec recap is actually too long to put in one post (I exceeded the number of characters limit!! So it takes two posts to get it all in there!

Crusader - you're not wrong!
Then there was the copious research and speculation as to the work schedule of HHS, if he was actually teaching class or stealing from his employer and robbing the students of an education, his teaching credentials and (lack of) certification. That got real dicey. I thought HHS was going to get audited by the school district and lose his job all because of the Dumpster Fire. Crazy!

Good luck to Rice this weekend!

The double wide in the Trust in Florida was one of my favorites! Mom says it only matters to the person who set up the trust as to what type it is!:D

Ma!! More meatloaf! Was also a favorite!

I’d like to see a Rice win ... but I’m an Althofff Crusader, and speaking of which, the girls are playing in the 3A finals this afternoon.
