The QB in question has a live arm. He's a good prospect. Keep an eye on his footwork. Sometimes it gets a bit messy, and balls might sail on you even if you have great arm strength like him if the feet get tangled up/shoulder flies open. That said, he has good hips and can really get them around when throwing on the run. Pretty good athlete at the 6A high school level - probably not a dual-threat guy at P5 level but will certainly be mobile enough in the pocket and could take advantage of some open space. Keep in mind the offense that his team runs. It's like a modified triple option, and only modified to take advantage of him at QB. So the ball is in his hands a lot (like I said, he is an accomplished runner at HS level and has hurdled some players this year), but he may only get around 12-15 throws per game depending on game flow. Will that limit his development? Of course he could use some more throws, but he also gets to partly work from under center in this offense. While it may not be the best fit for him as a passer with so much raw arm talent, there's a learning curve (physical and mental) for most QBs when moving up and he can certainly take something away from his time in this system.
Decision making could use some work, but who couldn't get better at making decisions as a sophomore in high school? Great frame, could very well end up being 6'6ish while retaining some mobility. I don't think that he's quite as tall as some say, but he's definitely not far off. Curious as to how he fills out, lanky guy but an athletic build. Have you researched what happened in his last game? Caught a break at the end, so how will he bounce back? Will he be a bit less aggressive when running the ball? Does he show the state that it was meant to be and comes out slinging frozen ropes in gratitude to the FG gods?
Good supporting cast - look out for WRs #1 and #80. #1 is a solid athlete who has made some great one handed grabs this season and is the type of player who might not make an impact on every play but can change the game in a single play. #80 is an accomplished route runner with reliable hands and is a willing blocker. He's a D1 guy. Question is at what level? It's hard to tell in this offense. Camps will really, really be his ticket. That and playing with this QB. #6 is a nice RB, all-purpose guy who can lower his shouler. Maybe another solid RB in there, too. Definitely a complete offense.
Is this QB comparable to other QB mentioned? Of course he is! His offers are no joke. But is he at the same stage of development? No... and it's not really that close. Certainly more of a testament to the other guy, though. That guy has special arm talent, play-making skills, and ability to read the game. Can be the best QB out of IL in some time, and maybe even going back much further than that. With this said, QB in question has the chance to be a national level prospect who will be making big strides (literally and figuratively) in the coming years.
