Why should Stoops have only 3 years?

Again, just like hiring a great head coach the hiring of great assistants is easier said than done.

Ask Charlie Strong. he just got turned down offering his OC job to the co-OC at conference rival TCU. oh, the co-OC who doesnt even call the plays at TCU. He turned down going to Texas to be the OC.
True but right now I feel we could play Kent State and have the weaker staff in the game. Too many first time coaches on a staff is never a good thing.

"Don't believe our record! Don't believe your lyin' eyes!"
Sorry, this year was not an improvement on the year before. Same record, same second half meltdown. Same bonehead coaching decisions. At best he's spinning his wheels, except our competition was definitely weaker than the year before.
I will repost what I said in another thread as to why improvement could be argued although the record in year 2 and 3 remained the same:

I have stated this before, and I understand where you are coming from, but I could argue that even though we didn't improve in the win column, that not losing more than last year was was a positive.

When you consider that we lost 2 NFL guys on defense and it didn't fall off that much, and was actually pretty good at times and considering the issues with the offense, that that showed improvement in itself. In years past, those losses would have killed us. Then, take into consideration that Hatcher was hurt/injured a good portion of the year, Lewis being lost for over half the season, Flannigan being hurt to start, and Reggie Meant missing significant time, then then it looks even better that we didn't digress defensively from last year, and could argue that that shows improvement in developing other guys.

When you look at the offensive side of the ball, consider the fact that we lost a really good OLineman, and a tackle where we have struggled at that in Miller, lost Hurd as a top RB, Demarco Robinson, Javiss Blue, and then throw in a new OC, surely one could see where they might struggle to find their way a little, and would take a step back. The offensive side of the ball lost a TON of experience and leaders along with their OC and was replaced by all young guys. We had Towles, Toth, and Swindle that are older than a sophomore that were starting and the only other ones in the 2 deep were JoJo, Timmons, and Horton. Now, I didn't foresee taking that big of a step back, but I think this is where Towles failed the most. He needed to be that unquestioned leader, but never asserted himself as that IMO. Of course, that is the outside looking in perspective, but I just didn't see it.

Now, with all that said, there are definitely things Stoops has to correct on many ends, including decision making. But, I think there was still improvement in some areas, and some steps taken backward in some areas. But overall, I see improvement. The second half downfalls I contribute more to lack of depth and on field leadership as much as anything. But, again, Stoops has to make some changes as well.

He just said he could argue that not losing more games when we returned most of our starters is improvement even with the way easier schedule? You never cease to amaze me. Heard was our top RB? The coach you love so much merriman, said himself, in his own words, that this is the first time he can say we have a good team since he's been here and promised much improvement. It's the first time he said he's confident in his team coming into the season. Every team loses players every year, but we returned way more than we lost and way more than a lot of teams returned, it's a part of the game, people do graduate you know, this is an ongoing occurrence at all universities not just UK. Every coach on the team and fan expected a much much better team this year and everyone expected a bowl game, anything less would be considered regression from the year before. AND THATS WHAT HAPPENED. And

With the way we finished the season, no, just no man, there's seriously no way you can argue we made improvement, no effing way at all, we regressed from the season before. And it's not even an opinion it's a fact. Considering the schedule we had compared to the year before, and the ways we lost to vandy and Louisville this year. We beat vandy and gave Louisville a way better game last year in Louisville. Another point thats proof as to why the regression from years 2 and 3 is a fact and no improvement was made and it's impossible to come up with a credible post to try and prove said false statement. Another point that no improvement was made, you can try and say but we beat mizzou this year, well guess what mizzou won the SEC east last year. This year they sucked. Louisville lost a lot more than we did since the year before, and Vandy was pretty much the same team. See the results? That's called regression.

You use bud and smith leaving for the pros last season as a reason we improved considering circumstances? Bud made it to the pros based on athleticism size and combine results, btw we had better LBs and DBs this year so that makes your point even more irrelevant especially considering we returned almost all of our offense from the year before. Bud made it to the pros not for his play during his senior year here, but based on potential, might want to check the stats before you act like that was a huge loss. Every team loses seniors. We returned more players than most teams. This post takes the cake for most clueless post I've seen on this board. After some previous things you've said, i truly thought that was impossible. I only read bits and pieces of your post because it was pretty idiotic from everything I read out of it and if I read the whole thing not only would have I got dumber, but it would've taken days to write all the facts that prove all of your false misguided sunshine pumping points wrong. Sorry if this post is a little choppy not proof reading because I'm watching the bball game so there are errors then wooptydo.

Well - 6 wins didn't happen and he is our coach for the foreseeable future. Let's all come to terms with this past season and move on.
And just how many more Move ons are we going to have to endure ?
