The only articles I can find reference indefinite postponement and mention discriminatory amendments attempted to be added.

Morgantown desperately needs uber

Would cut down on drunk driving
Definitely. Probably a good way for non drinking college students to earn some cash too. The only people I could see being against it would be cab companies, but I can't imagine them having enough pull to kill it.

Democrats added a completely unnecessary "can't discriminate against gays" amendment (unnecessary because Uber already has a company policy that does just that). Republicans took the bait and tried to strip the language out. The argument side tracked the bill and gave cover to both sides who in reality just didn't want to piss off the cab companies.

My daughter goes to App State in Boone, NC and they have "beepers"... kids who will give other kids rides for like $3 each way per person. It makes a lot of sense, is an easy way for those not drinking to make a little cash and others to stay safe. I don't know how they let people know they are doing it? Probably through twitter or something...

Thanks for the info.
