Why Zips?

After taking some ribbing when zippers got more popular on clothing, it was shortened to Zips. The mascot has been a kangaroo since the early 1950s and was originally known as Mr. Zip. The Mascot is Peter the Anteater. Zot is their battle cry. It is derived from an old comic strip called B.C. An anteater was one of the characters. Zot was the sound made when the anteater extended its tongue and caught an ant.

Rhode Island School of Design's team name is the Nads. Go Nad's!!

Their unofficial mascot is Scrotie.
