There is no question we're more talented, but we were talented enough that we should have beaten Vandy and gone to a bowl last year. In game coaching decisions cost us a bowl, and it wasn't Dawson's decisions that were the problem in that game. But I'll still hope for the best, and hope Stoops' in game decisions will improve with experience.
Well we get to play a Muschamp coached team again this year - that's another reason to be optimistic 
It was a mixture of Dawson and Stoops. Like it says in the article, Stoops and Dawson differed in a lot of philosophies. This clash really manifested in the Vandy game....
Think of the clash as a wrench. Think of the complementary philosophies of Gran and Stoops as oil. We don't know how well everything will work, but at least it's not a damn wrench.
It wasn't Dawson's decision to burn a TO save a 5-yard penalty on a punt, or to not take a TO to save 5 yards on what turned out to be a costly missed FG. There were numerous other questionable decisions in that game that were Stoops' responsibility as well, iirc. But, I'll let the past stay in the past.
The FG was a mistake to begin with,we were deep enough to go on 4th down(I think 4th and 3 or 4 to go) if we make the 1st down maybe we punch in the go ahead score.If we don't Vandy can't move the ball anyway(other than the trick play)
I hope Stoops has learned a few things but he shouldn't have had to learn that.Stoops and Gran have to be a better mix than Stoops and Dawson,it couldn't get any worse
The first game will be interesting for many reasons.
I agree, I have little to no anticipation for this season and after the last 2 years it's going to take more than a hot September to get me revved up again.
