Well he did have 3 of the best shooters he ever had on one team 2 years ago and what good did it do him?
He priorotized the 2 worst shooters and stuffed the 2 lottery picks on the bench.
Cal is going to do it his way and he doesn't care that his way is incredibly outdated.
If nothing else it at least tells us Pope is not satisfied yet. He wants a scorer.
Get him on campus, show him how big UK basketball is, offer him a good sized check on his visit. He will be a UK Wildcat. Get Wilkerson and a 7' footer from over seas that can bury the 3 & lets start the season tomorrow.
I am not a huge fan of Cal's but this isn't entirely true. While they didn't start Reed averaged the 3rd most minutes per game only behind Reeves and Mitchell. Rob was 5th behind those 3 and DJ.
Retention? Cal?? A Junior Wagner? I won't lie, this pisses me off because us UK fans were screaming for Cal to try to retain players instead of pushing them out the door for the next 5 star because it was obvious for the last several years that winning titles involved retaining players and getting old.
I know! The wait after portal season is gonna be brutal. The excitement is so back.

In the cases of transfers it's not unusual to just use 1 day for a visit so he very well could visit UK and IU on the same weekend
Its a new day everyone. A lot more of the fringe NBA guys we lost would be staying because they will get good money from NIL. Chris Livingston would have gotten a pay check. DJ Wagner is getting paid and I don't see him going anywhere. If he does and Cal loses these types of guys even while they are getting paid, it will be even harder for Arkansas fans to stomach than it was for us.
On paper, Arkansas is going to look really good next season. Bet they start out ranked top 5. But remember, Cal is still on the sideline with his “Yes Men” coaching staff. Until he proves me wrong, I’m not betting on Cal. He always puts out a talented roster that comes up short in tournament time.
I know. I would think Wagner would have entered if he was going to. Looks like they have too many guards. Knox is the epitome of the players that left UK when they should have stayed another year . I guess nil may have changed things like that .
Texas connection…this feels to me like Chris Beard’s recruitment to lose. Tell me this dude doesn’t seem like an Ole Miss guard. I’ve heard SH fans say great things about him. This is realistic for our roster, you get a possible scorer who potentially isn’t necessarily bent on starting if he can make the jump from low major to blue blood and just focus on being important to the rotation.
I wasn't talking about the amount of minutes. Wagner and Edwards started every game they were available.
Cal rarely played the best lineup, he refuses to put winning over draft pick player development and that played out in a bad way in 23/24, just like it did in 20/21 with Boston.
It would have been interesting to see who stayed if this was available years ago. I still feel like guys like Livingston was so focused on going pro they would have made a bad decision regardless. He was one of the most underachieving players Cal recruited I think relative to his talent and body type for college.
I’d love to get this dude. He seems like a perfect player and has great size to move up in competition. Those numbers are elite shooting, that will translate much like Brea’s did.
They still lost their 4 best players. Definitely have a solid core but lack big men and shooting as of right now.
He is a starter or should be wherever he goes. If we get him then y you can have Jasper be our version of petitford for auburn
I'm sure Pope and staff will causally let Wilkerson know that other targets are lined up to visit to put pressure on him to make him aware that if he leaves without committing, another one of our targets might commit before he gets a chance to and takes his spot...
My guess is Pierre cause he’s so athletic but not sure.
Last guy to spurn ark for us was pretty damn good so yeah what a fit he would be.
