Will AJ Turner be back next year?

He is not shooting too well, but I like him.

Despite that his shooting is very disappointing, to himself as much as anyone, he is clearly among our top 5 returners and I’d love for him to return to redeem himself and play with a chip on his shoulder.

Well, NU only returns 7 scholarship players with any experience so being top 5 is not much of a feat.......FWIW I'd put the order Gaines, Kopp, Turner, [big gap], Nance, Falzon, Greer, Benson.

That's depressing.

I think Kopp being ahead of Turner depends on substantial improvement and Turner's shot not getting back to what he apparently shot at BC. For now I slot in Turner at #2 returning starter behind Gaines. I think Kopp and Nance have the potential to become top 2 starters next year, but depends a lot on off-season.

Turner shot .338/.260/.686 and .424/.374/.675 in his two seasons at BC.

While we would happily trade this year’s from-the-field marksmanship for his sophomore season at BC, the notion that he is a great shooter does not match his historical performance.

Guys tend to improve between Frosh and Soph years. And those soph numbers would be welcome as they are better than anything we have (other than Pardon) on the team.

he is playing drastically out of position because lathon was denied admission 3 months before practice started (and recruiting had ended) and Ash tore his knee and never recovered.

i give AJ lots of credit for handling it the way he has.

based on contributions this year I understand your "big gap" with Nance, but I expect him to flourish next season. Collins needs to let him play more without the evil eye on every mistake.

I hope you're right about Pete. He has a long way to go. I think his Junior and Senior seasons will be when he makes the jump, he needs time to grow into his body and add strength.

Regardless of his bout with mono, it's still true.

Guessing I wasn't conveying my point clearly. The Mono has clearly delayed his development; for all we know, he could have been where Kopp is now--a dramatically improved player from the beginning of the season.

I'm really not a fan of Turner, Ash or Falzon at all. But there's always a place for hard working guys with a good attitude - especially on a team as young as this will be next year.

Has anybody seen Ash on the sidelines this year? He's coaching in-game more than some of the assistants. I swear he's Taylor's tutor (which may not say much actually). He already looks well on his way to being a coach.

Falzon seems like he's well liked. There's no doubt he's worked hard on his several unfortunate injuries.

Turner has always seemed like a team guy also.

I would hope by now Collins knows if each of these guys can provide the leadership the team needs next year.

And even if they aren't the leaders they seem to be, all have been good soldiers.
