The 2nd half of the last two season (especially last year) makes it obvious something is/was amiss....
The animated interaction among staff and body language of players was in full view of fans to interpet as ... hummmmm. ....well, odd.
So for me ... I don't need any inside stories. I saw what I saw and it was what it was.... Bad football.... Bad coaching.
As for Brown... I don't know what happened there but he left for Troy, for same money as he was making here (close)... Was 3-5 (5th in Conference last year)
I don't remember there being a big *** fight/effort to keep him:(... But he did seem to use Towles skill set better than Dawson....
Going into year 4... everyone is still talking about the offense ... But the defense has been just as sucky much of the time that CMS has been here...
Ohhhhh yes it has....
Southern Miss is going to be a great game... Time to see what CMS and staff can put on the field against a statistically good offense and a ex-coach with a chip....
Not expecting anything miraculous out of a Gran/Hinshaw offense that I haven't seen out of Brown/Dawson.... Remember the HYPE?
Can't wait!

- Part of what was amiss the 2nd half of the last two seasons was tougher schedules than the 1st half. Not doing well then would tend to get all involved down. Not surprising.
- Brown was clear that being a HC was high priority for him, so about the least surprising thing that's happened under Stoops.
- I think the O has let the D down more than the other way around.
- Not expecting anything miraculous of the new O coaches either, but noticeable improvement that should help the D.

You people greatly exaggerate Stoops involvement in the offense. The man has an opinion on what you have to be able to do well offensively to win in this conference but he isn't calling plays or overriding calls on the sideline. His assistants would tell you that Stoops does a great of letting them coach.

I have always liked Stoops for his honesty in interviews and when addressing the fans. I have never felt like he sugar coats his answers and avoids tough questions with coach speak. He tries to be real as he can about where we are as a program, as an offense, as a defense, or at a particular position on the team. Hell he even admitted to the division in the lockerroom on KSR! Find another coach out there that would admit to that the list is going to be very very short.

My point being that when the man says that he doesn't get involved in offensive playcalling I think you have to believe him. He said straight up that he doesn't know enough about running an offense that he would ever feel comfortable making those calls and that's why he needs an OC that can act as a head coach of the offense. If Stoops were doing what some of you accuse him of then we would've run the ball 4 times on the 1 at Vandy and we would've been playing in a bowl game
