Will Naperville Central make the playoffs?

They lose to LWE, Pickerington and EStL so that is your 4 losses right there with NV and Dekalb being toss up games.

Don’t forget they could go 4-5 and get in the playoffs as a conference champion since the DVC now has 6 teams.

Yeah but my guess is if they drop a conference game that team goes 5-0.

As I was walking by the NC campus Sunday night on my way to Big Head Todd and the Monsters at Naperville’s Last Fling, all I could think of was how CG rolled them last year. That was the highlight of season for me. Nothing to do with this year but a great memory for me nonetheless.

I could see them losing to either Neuqua or WV. If those games were played on turf I think Central beats both of them, but.... both games will be played on beat up grass fields. Neuqua and Waubonsie's fields become mud pits mid way through the year. I think that will slow down Centrals offensive attack significantly. So if I was to guess it would be during that 2 week road stretch that they take a conference loss.

Highly touted Duel threat QB and two standout receivers including the #1 WR prospect in IL and they put up 6 points against HC?...how good is HC defense supposed to be this year? Did they score a TD miss a XP or get 2 FG?

My great memory of last year’s NC team was the Marist game - a helluva back n forth offensive show. And the way LWE rolled them in week 2

Was speaking with a Central guy today and he said that the skill talent they have is obviously high end but their OL is a work in progress, at best. Sounds like LWE can dominate the LOS much like HC did.

Well they got outplayed by HC, who is a very average team with not a whole lot of team speed at all, and got beat up in the trenches.. So its tough to really give them any credit when they couldn't even get in the endzone once. So write that down, maybe it will help them score some touchdowns moving forward lol.

I love me some Naperville Central and really don’t like to see all of the negativity and hate, but understand with “In The Making” they didn’t do themselves any favors. Good luck to them moving forward and outta the hole that’s been dug.

Keep in mind that HC beat NC in the first game last year as well. Additionally, in Peyton Thorne's first game as a junior, he didn't play that well either. It wouldn't over think that game too much since they were rusty and have 3 new WR's and I expect them to compete with LWE and make it respectable. NC will get to 5 wins (They'll beat all 3 Valleys, Dekalb and NN) and then watch out for them in the playoffs. I wouldn't want to face a 5-4 NC team in the playoffs.

Sure ... make the drive. Really, anything can happen with play of teenagers. However, LWE is getting a "machine-like" reputation similar to what was expected out of Mount Carmel teams during many stretches of the somewhat recent past.
