It definitely stopped ND from potentially joining a conference, which would have caused a domino effect. Don't believe B1G or sec are looking at further expansion, at least not imminently.

No think the Big 12 will expand. The PAC will target the MWC and so will the Big 12

all the current projected conference expansion to include the Big 12?
Not sure it will kill conference expansion but it will further diminish the Bowl season. Not exactly sure that's a bad thing to many meaningless bowls handing out participation trophies. The post season needs to go back to the old days when making a bowl meant something. I know you're old enough to remember that.

Doubt expansion changes. Majority will want to break from NCAA eventually.

Should do away with bowls and spring games. Instead of scrimmaging play your FCS game after spring practice. Then you'll have real game film to look at come August.

It will accelerate it. The obviously f$&ked conferences (PAC 12 and ACC) are taking the cash and ignoring that this will only create a larger divide between themselves and the SEC and Big 10. This will further tempt teams to jump.

Hard to say- the B10 probably has to get closer members to UCLa and USC still and many schools will want the money the B10 and SeC may get.

The BIG 12 commissioner said expansion is part of their agenda and he knew the playoff would eventually expand.

Did BCS formula and 4 team playoffs stop expansion? Hell no.

Conferences were expanding before the BCS formula.

Not really because the way the seeding is written makes it impossible for ND to get a top 4 seed and a bye., unless I missed something. The top 6 seeds are conference champions.

The Big 12 likely will get at least 2-3 teams in most years, which will at least keep us financially competitive . Will the ACC or PAC 12 (after USC leaves) ever get 2 teams in?
Again this will only make the rich richer and the poor poorer. Morons.

The seeding is not so much a problem. The real issue for Notre Dame is that everyone else has 2 paths to make the playoffs, and they only have 1.

Which would seem to indicate that ND may be on the verge of joining a conference. It is possible that they have already committed but it isn’t public yet.

Nope. This is leverage to use against them. ND joining a conference will be one of the last moves before the Great Migration from the NCAA. They know they have to do it but want to get the best deal from whomever the lead dog will be moving forward. They have the money to hold out. I don't blame them.

OK State HC talks more about BIG 12 v PAC 12 realignment:

Excerpts:

“This is all athletic directors, presidents and the Big 12 Conference,” OSU coach Mike Gundy said of the Big 12/Pac-12/conference realignment storyline Monday. “They’re going to make those decisions, not the coaches.”……..

Gundy continues to profess faith on that topic.

“The Big 12 is already … They’re ahead,” he said when I first suggested the Big 12-vs.-Pac-12 subplot to Saturday night. “We’re fine. The Big 12 is already working on it. We’re in good shape.”
And that confidence is based on?
“I’m getting good information,” he said.
From?
“I’m just saying the Big 12’s in good shape.”…..

Gundy told us he figured future Big 12 expansion would mean going west.
I bit on that Monday and asked Gundy what he thought about the Big 12 potentially adding Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado and Utah, the Pac-12’s “Four Corners” schools, as has been speculated.
“If they pay us good media money. And budget-wise in the conference, we don’t take cuts. And athletic directors can divvy up the money among their athletic departments and we can stay on the same curve,” Gundy said of expansion candidates in general. “That’s all it comes down to. You know this. You’re writing about it all the time. It’s all turned into money.”

If the B1G were to expand, they would go WEST.

USC and UCLA do not like to be ISLAND schools.

Oahu and Maui and a flight to the Mainland.

HAIL TO PITT!!!!

Don't tell that to some of the geniuses on here. They have FSU going to the Big 10 next week.
