Considering that next year is THE year for CCC and his upperclassmen, do you let Anthony Gaines go and use his spot to go hard after a decent grad transfer?

Once you enter the portal I don't believe the original school has to take you back.
I am clueless about that. But though schools don't have to take you back, they can take you back, right? I doubt MN would not take back Carr and Mashburn Jr.

Looks like a down year for the B1G next season. Teams like Minny and Penn State will be a mess, other teams will be losing experienced seniors, and players such as Ayo will undoubtedly test the draft. If NU is ever going to make another run under Collins, it ought to be set up for them next year.

They can, but don't have to. Something like 6 kids entered the portal from Wake Forest last year when Manning was sacked, and all but 1 came back on scholarship.

You essentially give up your scholarship at the current school when you enter the portal. Guys like Carr should be fine, but I can also see others getting hurt based on the decision.

It worked out OK for Malik Washington in football......

If a new coach doesn't want you back on scholarship, you probably made the right decision to look for an opportunity elsewhere.

I am not a fan of Gaines' game at all. However, from the outside, he seems like a good soldier. I don't push out guys who have worked hard for three and four years.

And I agree with all who say all signs point to him returning.

OTOH, I see the business side of this to an extent. NU has fulfilled it's part of the obligation with a degree. I have no problem if they push him out the basketball door, if they welcome him back to the school with a different type of scholarship. The education is what really matters.

Did you see that Myles Johnson of Rutgers is in the portal? I'd love to see him in the McCormick School of Engineering, a.k.a. Tech.......
I had not seen it. And now that I've checked WI has one more player.

I started a new thread so when I update it stays at the top of the thread.

Myles Johnson would be a bench warmer in Evanston. Obviously.
