Will We Be Competitive With Vandy and Arkansas?

Re-reading this thread, interesting to see how many were convinced by the recent fool's gold.

Only the UT win was a good win. LSU was a miracle and we could've easily lost all 5.

We're a mediocre team that is middle of the SEC pack. Every good team we played destroyed us. That sucks to say, but its true.

Unless Arkansas is cold from the outside, they will blow us out too.

I'm not really sure most people had any pre concieved notions this team was good. The OP only asked do you think we'd be competitive, not that we would win. Obviously we weren't but I don't think it was all that crazy to think we'd be competitive. Outside of Gonzaga, this game and maybe Michigan St we have been.

we haven't been competitive all year in road/neutral court games.

@UL: down 18 with 4 minutes left in the 1st half
MSU at MSG: down 16 with 4 minutes left in the 1st half
Gonzaga at Nashville: down 17 with 12 minutes left in the 1st half
St Johns at Atlanta: down 10 with 5 minutes left in the 1st half
@Bama: down 19 with 3 minutes left in the 1st half
@LSU: down 17 with 30 seconds left in the 1st half
@tenn: down 17 with 3 minutes left in the 1st half
@Vandy: down 16 with 8 minutes left in the 1st half

every game away from home this year we have had large double digit deficits in the 1st half. this pattern also goes back to last year with duke, gonzaga, clemson, and ohio state.

i dont get why people think its going to change now. this is what happens under pope. pope's strategy is to react what the other team does first. which when you are a mid major is fine because you are expected to lose and maybe sneak out a win.

The large first half deficits are part of the comeback wins and all the losses. We've also had some stinker first halves against the cupcakes. It's now well beyond a short term abberation. It's coaching.

100% we were down 12 to MSU at home and they are terrible.

this is game prep, scouting, and player rotation. knowing vandy switches everything, we came out with an offense to do what? force feed the post with jelavic and moreno? teams that come out and play really hard....catch us off guard. which is a crazy thing to say.
