You don’t think he owes alumni, current students, faculty, and staff at least an update on what’s going on?
He doesnt owe it, but that nice big $700M stadium renovation needs to be used by someone. Fans do have power and one very distinct way to weild it....speaking of, everyone get their ticket repurchasing updates from the school?

At this point, I'm mailing mine back empty.

We are not individually owed any information, but the overall fan base is similar to your customers. Without them there is no business. Penn State has to keep the enthusiasm and excitement up and get something done. So maybe there is a coach waiting in the wings who they will announce soon, to me that's the best possible scenario.
If not it has to be Terry Smith because he could keep the program a float in the interim and then maybe we upgrade?

I think he needs to say something. But you’re correct about the stadium and that the best way to effect change is through your wallet.

As Pogo says. “We have met the enemy and they are us”!

We are not the first school to be destroyed by “bad” management of the football program by top administrators. Here’s a few others:

Pitt in the late 60’s - the Chancellor decided all students were required 2 years of foreign language. The program struggled for 10 years till Johnny Majors gave out 100 scholarships in one year!
Notre Dame’s Priest for an AD decided a coach from a catholic high school would work. Gerry Faust set the Irish back 8-10 years.
There are others.

So Kraft will join a list of bad AD’s or Presidents.

It also wouldn't hurt to allow the lowly fan contributors a morsel of updated info like how you screwed this thing up so terribly bad.

Fan power on display was one of the leading factors in getting Frankie fired. It could be like that again. All the students would have to do is hold a mass protest at Old Main be present and be loud letting them know what they and the fan base want. Make sure to call ESPN ahead of time.

If the football ticket holders stop buying tickets, the main revenue stream for funding all the other sports teams at Penn State slows to a trickle. I wonder what the B10 conference will do if Penn State can’t field a team that is not even close to being competitive next year? That is a 0-12 team made up of Div 2 level players, because the games would be unwatchable. I don’t think the B10 wants to revenue share with a team that is that level of bad. A very bad football program has major financial implications to the rest of the sports teams. We can thank Kraft if this comes into fruition. I am just stating worst case scenario.

You all need to stop with this "keep the program afloat" nonsense. I've never seen so much angst about a role many of is have said since day 1 wouldn't be filled until after CCG week

Well, Purdue Maryland and Rutgers are still getting their share :)

Seriously though, and I know you are being hyperbolic:
Unequal "revenue share" is definitely coming. Far too many "big name" programs have spent themselves onto the precipice of fiscal crisis.... and unequal revenue share will be one of the reactionary short-term mitigations implemented.

When that happens, those programs that can't win the argument of "we are a big dog" are going to get clobbered. Right now, PSU is certainly a Big Ten big dog. But once unequal share is in place it will not be static. Whether now, 5 years from now, or 20 years from now: Any program dropping from big dog status will be facing far worse complications than any NCAA sanctions or other concerns that were the types of things folks worried about in the past.

Interesting times indeed.
Strong leadership and a strong culture will be critical.
Where does PSU line up?

is he busy updating his resume?

he owes us some information at this point.
I agree with most that he owes us nothing. However, I agree he owes us something. You can't be the big bully on the block only when it suits you. He plays the fan boy role very, very well. I believe it would go a long way for him to get in front of a camera and give a presser like he did the day he fired Franklin. Show unity, show he is still the confidence man that can get his done. Because right now I am not sure many people have much confidence in this guy.

Which would explain why LSU was able to hire Lane Kiffin away from Mississippi BEFORE the first game of the playoffs despite having weeks less time than Kraft to hire a new coach huh?

The biggest clusterF@#k ever. Firing JF in the middle of the season only makes sense if you had a replacement for sure that you knew would take the job. At this point Kraft has no choice but to scour the NFL for someone who could do the job. He would be best served to save what is left of the program and hire Terry Smith who would be a much better choice than floundering around the NFL for someone else. We are done as a top 10 team for at least 2-3 years unless Terry is hired. JF has already taken our top recruits and will dominate recruiting in Pa. And the DMV. Notre Dame and Ohio State will also claim many recruits. Kraft has destroyed PSU football to an extent we may never recover and be relegated to the cellar of the B10 as a laughing stock stock of a once great program .

It's not the same situation but no HC that's hired will stay throughout the playoff

What planet do you live on? The Penn State football program has taken a HUGE step back, and for all intents and purposes has lost its 2026 recruiting class and presently all of its once #1 rated 2027 class. Had a head coach gotten an earlier start some of this damage could have been reduced. My greatest fear is that several players currently on our roster may jump the "sinking ship". Also, just to be honest and realistic, the pool of coaches to choose from is quite different than it was a little over 50 days ago --- and not for the better. Get real!

See once you spoke about the #1 class in 2027 I had to stop reading.
The panic around this is insane. Like all programs that change coaches we're not to be unable to field a team. We're also not set back years or decades. Stop being emotional.

Have you read the posts?
Football isn't going to cease to exist. We're not going to be unable to field a team.
As I've said throughout...2026 was always going to be a down year...nothing has changed. The coaching hire isn't about 2026. I'm confident we win more games next year than this unless we promote from within.

Well said. Given everything you've noted, Terry appears to be the better remedy.
