I'm worried he will ride the pine until he transfers, then we will end up blowing a redshirt on Sills. Howard had the edge bc he would protect the ball, if he has another down game, maybe we need a change to get Crest in there. I have to believe the ceiling is higher for Crest in the long run.

As to the OP- this is the first game Crest didn't play this year
the coaches see him in practice. the coaches have shown they're not afraid to play young guys - even true freshmen like durante Jennings and others in recent years. If crest could make a big impact. They'd play him more. Thing is, turns out we have some great depth at wr and quality young guys there. To have crest rep at wr takes away practice reps for him at qb where he's the primary backup.

To explain myself, we've had very bad luck with qbs transferring over the last few years. If we ride with Howard and he continues turning the ball over, I fear Crest will transfer and then we will eventually be forced to burn Sills redshirt when it is too late. I know this is a far fetched scenario but with our recent luck with qbs, I would not at all be shocked if it played out that way. Best case is that the staff works on getting the ball out of Howard's hands quicker and let the playmakers make plays. Also Howard starts looking at his check down options.
