I didn’t get to watch the game but I saw in the game thread a mention about Williams being injured. Does anyone have details?

He seemed fine. Came back out and got on the exercise bike.

Hmm. I wonder if they’ve only done X-rays so far or if they are saying “imaging” and just using X-rays as a generic term. Of course X-rays are negative if it isn’t bone. The MRI and soft tissue is what we care about.

On the play he gets the ball awkwardly and sort of comes down on this side of this foot. Not a full sprain but a tweak of the foot/ankle. Pope said Xrays are good and they will do more tomorrow to make sure. My guess is we might not see him Monday night to make sure the foot/ankle heals properly. I would say we see him game 2 to be ready for Duke. Garrison needs more reps as well and we need to see who a back up will be if Garrison gets foul trouble and Williams is out. Carr down low is good for a bit but not the whole night. Alamonor probably a little. Oweh might be able to play down a bit because of this upper and lower body strength. Gotta be able to see what we have.

Pope is so different on the radio than what we are used to. Had no qualms of telling us about Williams. Mills said when he was listening to Pope talk about something the other day it was all jiberish to him and he was scared to ask a question and make a fool of himself. Mills said after a practice of game when they played all the players would go watch TV or whatever and Pope would go home and read a whole book. Said that Pope was a Rhodes Scholar and was more into those type of things when he played here. His language does seem a little technical at times not knowing what he is talking about.

Pope was born to Coach Kentucky.
He is the slam dunk hire that gets everyone off Barnhart’s *** for a while longer.

That will be done today. Fingers are crossed.

If we do not have Williams for Monday I do not think it is a big deal. If we do not have Williams for Butler, still not a big deal for the game but if Williams does not play both and his first game back is Duke that can mess with chemistry a bit. Plus the rust factor. I hope we have him for both, expect to see him for Butler and then Duke. Unless the mri the day after showed something we all do not know about yet.

Assume you meant Bucknell instead of Butler?

So far it looks like Pope has got the starters right. Those five look to be the best consistent producers. The second five could make a very good college team itself. But those five starters are special at their positions for more than one reason.

Yep, I like our starting 5. Feels so refreshing to not have to question the starting 5 any more as in consistent years past.
