Not so obvious. Assuming what you say about "doing better" is true and means the economy there's more to "doing better" than just the economy. Trump and Repubs have worked hard to take health insurance away from Americans through their attacks on the ACA and they want to cut social safety net programs to save money for the tax cuts to the rich and corporate welfare. They've taken away tax exemptions in blue states where many blacks live and I won't even get into issues associated with Trump's white nationalism and other racist tendencies. Trump is polling at 13% now with blacks while Dems have yet to settle on a candidate who a large percentage will support.
President Trump’s approval rating has dropped among minority voters after he told four Democratic lawmakers, all women of color, to "go back" to where they came from, according to a Hill-HarrisX poll released on Wednesday.
The survey, which was conducted from July 20-21, finds that 23 percent of Hispanic voters approve of Trump’s job performance, a 16-point decrease from a previous poll conducted between July 8 and 9.
The poll indicates that Trump’s approval is down to 13 percent among African American voters, marking a 5-point drop from two weeks ago. Trump’s approval rating has also dipped 3 points among Asian American voters, now standing at 57 percent.
HarrisX researchers surveyed 1,003 registered voters. The poll has an overall margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.

Trump is making gains with Black voters. So much so, his campaign internal polls are showing support as high as 38% in door-to-door surveys among select Black neighborhoods. Democrats are in panic mode, they have the same internals and they know any Black support for Trump above the 8% he got in '16 means doom for their party's chances to unseat him in '20.
So expect to hear more about "racist" charges amped up to try and blunt this Trump opening on the Black front. Dems can't afford to have Trump draw 38%, 35% not even 20% of the Black vote from their base. If he does, they'll get buried in a landslide and they know it.
