No one ever accused Winston Bennett of being "soft."
I was a big fan of WB. We could use a player like him
Yeah Bennett didn't take a back seat to anyone in the toughness category.
Sounds like we could use a coach like him also.
I remember being very disappointed when WB picked UofK over UofL. He missed out on the ‘86 championship and UofL probably would have won another one with him onboard.
Bennett always played so hard. It seemed he never had a bad game.

I loved WB as a player, but his post-playing coaching/work history has been a scandalous disaster.

Quick story. I was at the same UK basketball camp as Bennett in '83. The entire camp separated into three-on-three teams. I was on Bennett's team. First game. I took a jump shot. Made it. Bennett comes up to me and grabs me lightly by the jersey and says, "Don't shoot it unless I tell you to." So, I didn't. We came in second in the tourney. Lost to a 7-footer from Chicago. Last name Bush or something.
