Agreed. He just stated an obvious omission which was a guaranteed starter for them is out.

I disagree that their two best players left from last years team. Berry was better than Paige the last two years. I don't want to sound like Gary who tops his yogurt in the morning with Berrys nuts, but I have always felt he was their best guard since he's been there. Roy limiting his minutes freshman year was an error. They're a better team last year even losing their best player because their more experienced and play as one. Much the same way that our 2010 team was better even though we lost G who was clearly our best player the year before.

Gotta say I think Paige was better than Berry in crunch time, just from standpoint of way he took over the final last year at end....Scored their what, last 10???? Just my view, not seeking out stats....OFC

Sorry for the inconsistency. I was counting Jackson as a forward. Guess that's old school position terminology...but then again UNC is the only team in the country who refuses to accept small ball and play Jackson as the stretch 4. To all other UNC fans...I apologize...your team is very good this year and probably for the foreseeable future.

Marcus and Brice were our leaders no doubt. That's what they brought to the table as well as scoring the majority of our points. Marcus was also very clutch. The only downside was that we had a tendency to rely on them too much when the going got tough.

What I see this year is a more balanced team that can rely on multiple players to score consistently. Our defense is also much improved and that will go a long way as well.

As for Berry, he really came into his own at the end of last year. But I would venture to say freshman year he was not ready to handle the responsibility of the point. Now it's his show essentially, and if he keeps playing the way he did in Maui, we're in good shape.

Jackson has already played the 4 this season and Pinson will as well when he gets back. Let's face the facts Carolina/Roy believes in the two big system and K /Duke believe in the small ball philosophy. Both have been very successful running their style and ultimately it comes down to which teams personnel is more equipped to run it in a given year. I want Carolina to keep doing what they do and I am sure Dukies believe in what K coaches.

Coach K has long adapted to his roster, not the method of forcing something that isn't there.

K gets flak sometimes for not playing enough guys, and I could make the case either way. That said, where K has that reputation, Roy has a reputation of being stubborn and not sometimes making adjustments.

Coaches usually stick with the girl that they brought to the dance. I did so to the point where I remember you guys began to have doubts. To his credit, he adjusted in several ways. Most notably, the OADs where he has been great with them. I wonder how much influence Chapel had on him?

This is pretty much what I was originally saying. Both teams look like typical versions of themselves right now. My only negative towards UNC was that they still seem like they will have trouble guarding 3-point shooting teams. Now if everyone shoots as poorly as Wisconsin did, or if five different teams have below average shooting nights in the NCAA's then UNC will be fine. Their bigs may be so dominant that they are fine regardless. I just know in the recent past, not defending the 3 well has hurt them in some big games. I honestly hadn't seen and heel bball except the Wis. Game this year so I never saw Jackson at 4. Would be surprised if that was something Roy did frequently.
