Now it becomes an issue of can Crest help us more off the field as a #2 or give us a weapon in the slot.
I'd love to see him play 10-15 snaps at Wr. Not enough that he loses a ton of practice reps at QB, but enough to give us another playmaker with the ball.

He's going to be standing and watching when Howard is getting snaps anyway. Let's use him!

I don't see that at all. He is one play away from playing at qb. He's never played we nor taken one rep here

If anything I think you see him play some situational qb for us

Gibson has the physical ability

He loses focus though at times. Lonnie got after him a few times . I like him but relying on him to be the guy worries me

You have seemed to have missed two words that adds a big caveat to your post and Dana's comment...

Doom you need to wake up and realize we need Crest and Howard. Both will play this fall. Crest is one play away from starting at all times.

Also Howard is wildly innaccurate still and may not keep job in season. We need Crest to keep developing and he will. Get ready cause were going to see both of them.

If you've seen Howard this spring he misses wide open targets too often. Crest will start and become a star here at some point.

I know this will fall on deaf and dumb ears but Howard has been more accurate than Crest and it isn't really close especially on deep balls.

If Howard is "wildly inaccurate ", how did he get the starting job? Seems to me that a wildly inaccurate QB, as you put it, would be riding the pine.

Shortest starting QB of the past 30 years?

Skyler Howard is listed at 6 feet, but after standing next to him last weekend, I am thinking he is closer to 5-10. He's a heady player, and tough as nails, but he's going to struggle to see receivers. He just is. William Crest is listed at 6-foot-2.

Out of curiosity, how many quarterbacks who were 6-foot or shorter has West Virginia started in the past 25 or 30 years?

I stood next to both. Burger was 6'00 in college. Studstill wasn't quite 6'00.
You got a real sense of how tall Stud was when he stood with Klechner and Gray.

That's not going to happen, nor should it. Crest is a QB and is getting better by the day. All good news for us.

I would not count Crest out right now. He has all summer and fall camp to make a move. He beat out Howard early last year before getting hurt, who knows what will happen between now and September.

I don't think the coaching staff has any problem letting them compete. There are a couple of posters who seem to think they get to make the call.

Bulger measured in a shade under 6'2 at the 2000 NFL combine. The correct answer is Rasheed Marshall.

Howard was inaccurate for too long of a stretch of the bowl game, but I didn't see that in the KState game or the ISU game. I think part of it was just the jitters - he let the stress get to him. I'm not saying that's a promising sign, but I do think that's something that good coaching can help him shed. I'm comfortable with Howard as the starter - he obviously gives everything he has on every play. I'm not saying that Crest doesn't, but Howard seems to do that while having a better command of the offense than Crest seemed to early in the season. Maybe that's an unfair comparison given that Howard had more time to get more reps, but Crest is going to have to win the job from Howard, and that's only fair. You don't name starters based on potential.
