2 things made me think of this. The first was when I was watching football Sunday and my mother asked me why they felt the need to have a female sideline reporter all the time. The second was when I was watching a hockey game Tuesday night and they had a woman doing color commentary for it.
I honestly just don't get the hatred for them. When I was a kid and it was Phyliss George on the NFL Today and she knew nothing about football, didn't care to learn anything about football and just wanted to look good, then I get it. It's not that way anymore.
Women have been doing play by play for a while now. I think I remember watching the first college football game done by a woman play by play person (Pam Ward I believe) and she was fine. If you didn't notice it was a women's voice you wouldn't have thought a second about it. Beth Mowins takes a ton of crap. She's good. Why can't she be good when Jim Nance, Al Michaels, Mike Tirico and any other play by play man be good when they never played the game either. Nance is considered the best in the business and the only thing I know he played was golf. Why trust him on football? As far as the female color commentator on the hockey the other game, I looked her up. Admittedly, if it was a male commentator I wouldn't have looked him up to check credentials, She was captain on 2 gold medal Olympic teams for Canada and a long time professional up there (didn't even know they had a womens pro league up there but not surprised). I am pretty sure she knows a lot more about hockey than I do.

They're fine. Don't really have an opinion so I voted Yes and No since Glen(n) doesn't k(n)ow how to make a poll.

Doris Burke seems good, but I find her voice a little grating. One of the ex-Tennessee gals does a few games and she's hard to listen to. I think she might have hearing loss, which is awesome for her to get the job, but it's not an easy listen.

I don't have a problem with it. Sure, it's hard to understand a subject as deeply as someone who has actually experienced it.......but it does not mean that someone can't be knowledgeable.

On a side note, I wouldn't mind if they were in the booth as well. It seems like they almost always just put the "pretty model" down as a sideline reporter. I don't have an issue if they put them in the booth as well to call the game.....as long as they are good.

Now that being said, those who have played (aka Tony Romo, etc) should always have the most prominent roles.

But the question is why? It's pretty obvious why women like this are on the sidelines....
























Sure, they often can be really good at their jobs but there's a reason why certain women are chosen. Depending on your "why", you can support women announcers while still being sexist.

This is the one thing about the pussification of American that I like. Would much rather see a cute lady with a nice set of taa-taa's than some rich-*** man man who couldn't punch his way out of a paper bag. :)

I'm fine with sideline talkers being woman, but Michele Tafoya is getting too old, she needs to be replaced by someone younger. However play-by-play in football should be men only. Beth Mowins drives me nuts - can't stand listening to her.

That was my point—in football for the sideline reporting I have no issue w women. Play by play or color in the booth? No.

I have no issue w basketball because women play it, and I find it believable a woman can do play by play for men’s or women’s games.

Honestly, I’d rather hear women doing play by play for women’s sports and vice versa.

It’s like dating. A woman who talks men’s sports is a turn off. To me that’s worse than dating a woman who smokes or has tattoos all over.

A woman talking gymnastics, women’s hoops etc is not a turn off.

Who’s the lady who calls football games with the weird accent who says “yerds” instead of “yards”? It’s so irritating that whatever else she says is lost on me. I’m equally bugged by the guys who always end sentences by saying “Right?” Pet peeve, and the SEC network is full of those twerps.

The eye candy is a plus but the pitch and tone is grating on the ears. Just mute them when they talk and all is fine. I remember my mother talking about listening to the radio and how she did not care for some of the women who were on it because their voices were to high pitched. She would rather listen to a mans voice which being deeper was more soothing. However, in today's world of beta cucks trying to be women, millennials are screwing that up too.

I’ve won my league 3 of the last 6 years and I don’t even watch NFL besides the Packers so you can go make me a sammich and it better not be f**king bologna or white bread.

Basketball yes...a lot of them have played and offer some good insight.

Football is a big no...they have zero insight what it is like playing the sport.

I mean, I’m not trying to make it sound logical—but it’s been discussed that a lot of men don’t like females doing football PBP. I’m just going on a hunch that’s one of the reasons.

For some reason (strangely) I compare this with the phenomenon that there’s not that much outrage from males when a female teacher accosts a male student—as the vice versa scenario causes more outrage among males. Women complain about this being a double standard..but it is what it is. Biology. Btw, I believe in punishing teachers for this because of their authority position—but emotionally I’m not that fired up about a Female teacher/Male student encounter.
