That's what I was thinking. It seems like I remember reading an article or transcript from post game press conference where Coach K said that Giles was the closest to being ready, Boldden was the second closest to being ready and Tatum was the furthest to being ready but it would definitely be a nice surprise if Tatum is able to return on Saturday. It would be a perfect game to bring him back because he can play in short spells throughout the game to get into game shape.
Well, not exactly. K was specifically responding to a question about the players warming up before tha W&M game. He talked about how they looked in warmups not necessarily how close each was to being ready for a game. Who knows if he meant Tatum needed to be kept out of practice/games longer or if he meant Tatum needed to be kept out of warmups a little longer. Of course people interpreted it as Harry was closest followed by Bolden with Tatum last but when you look at his full answer in the correct context it doesn't exactly come across that way. He could have easily just meant that Tatum needed to be held out a little longer from that point in time, not longer than Giles or Bolden.
On the injured players taking part in warmups:
“I think the transition from serious injury isn’t just physical, but it’s also mental. I think to put on your uniform, do warmups as much as you can and be a part of the team is something we wanted to transition them to. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, we just don’t know how long that tunnel is. But, I think days like today helped. Harry [Giles] looked pretty good in warmups but he hasn’t had any contact. Marques [Bolden] looked good and Jayson [Tatum] needs to be kept for a little longer. Everything is progressing well and this was a good thing to do.”
