Just saw where we have 2 games this weekend against Guatemala for World Cup Qualifying. Really Important we take 6 points, anything less could put a crap ton of heat on Klinsmann.... the roster he chose is well....interesting to say the least.

They don't fare real well in Guatamala but they should be fine with a win and a tie.

Anyone watching the Olympic qualifying leg vs. Colombia? US up 1-0 early but Colombia controlling the pace. Would be nice to get a win here.

Will Trapp, Matt Miazga, and Jordan Morris among those playing.

Colombia is just dominating possession (likely 75%). Much like our national team, our U23 team just can't maintain possession but luckily our back line is pretty strong. Maintaining this lead would be a small miracle.

Uniforms are sweet though.

I watched 2nd half.... It's crazy how much we are outclassed technically.. Our build up play is trash... No creativity... If we don't have 10 feet of space we can't pass or keep the ball... If a team presses high on us we crumble...

It's just crazy how bad we are technically.

Completely agree. You'd think our youngsters could compete with a team like Colombia given they've been in our new system basically their entire lives, but that was just embarrassing. Trapp, Miazga, and our goalies were the only ones that were at their level.

If we can't manufacture chances against Guatemala outside of kicking a long ball we might as well forfeit all games in Copa America Centenario...

IMO with our personnel this is how I would go

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Howard
Fabian Johnson, John Brooks, Miazga, Yedlin
Cameron, Nagbe
Zardes, Bradley, Wood
One of Altidore/Morris/Johannson

No idea why he's always playing lineups that never play together in positions that they don't normally play in. Diskerud doesn’t play defensive midfielder for NYCFC, Yedlin doesn’t play in the midfield for Sunderland, and Cameron doesn’t play right back for Stoke. Last night’s backline of Cameron, Gonzalez, Orozco, and Castillo had never played together before.

They were in a similar spot four years ago after a loss to Jamaica in this round, but beat Jamaica in Columbus four days later and they got them back on track....so, a win Tuesday puts them back on schedule..but long term, they are trending the wrong way. Klinsmann's tactical schemes are befuddling, I can only imagine the locker room. You can only employ mind games for so long.

Failing to qualify under any circumstances is unfathomable....but to not finish in the top 2 in a semi-final group that include powerhouses like Trinidad & Tobago, St VIncent & Grenadines, and Guatemala is staggering. Would not be a good look.

And the positions he changes are ones that need to be consistent in order to improve... The back line... By now we should be damn close to being locked in to who those guys will be... That way we can get them playing as one... Then in the midfield no one has any chemestry or movement... We don't utilize flicks, we don't change the point of attack, we don't execute any peel offs or combo passes... We rarely utilize overlapping runs... Our attack is just blah... There is nothing to it.... We can't counter a all because we hardly have any pace at all on the pitch and the guys that do are being misplayed.. I know we can't look like Germany but watch Costa Rica and how they counter quick.

I agree with what the guy said last night when Bobby Wood would press up... It does no good for him to do that if Dempsey doesn't do it with him. And if Clint isnt for or quick enough sit him... I'd love to just see what a front 2 of Wood and Zardes would look like...some elite level pace.... Play Dempsey in a CAM role with bradkey.. Maybe like an attacking 4-2-2-2.

Just something different... Whatever we are trying to do isn't working.

Just watched the England-Germany friendly. Germany dominated the first half and led 2-0. Then England completely dominated the 2nd half, took advantage of really poor defense by Germany and won 3-2. Vardy and Kane both scored. England has a lot of young talent. Best atmosphere I've seen in a friendly in a long time.

Watched it too... Vardy has been a godsend for England...

Everyone over there is loaded... I was just looking the other day at France's roster...

Consists of Varane (real madrid), koscielny (arsenal), matuidi (psg), benzema (real madrid), pogba (juventus), griezmann (ateletico madrid) giroud (arsenal), lacazette (Lyon), Ben arfra (Newcastle) , payet (west ham), cabaye (crystal palace), coman (bayern), schniderlin (man u), nasri (man city)...

So much talent and young talent.. I then went and looked at Germany, Brasil, Belgium, and England and its the same... It dwarfs our talent pool.

All I want klinsmann to do is what Claudio has done with Leicester city.. Look at the roster, identify strengths, and play to them.. Simple.. Leicester a year ago was trash... Now they defend their asses off and nail you on the counter.

US called up Chrisitan Pulisic, a 17 year old playing in Germany - I assume to get him a cap to lock him in. He's playing in the top division in Germany so would love to see him play.
