Per my understanding there aren't a lot of poisons that cause death and leave no trace.

I, personally, don't believe it. He probably just died of illness. My comment was more just going off what the brother was saying. I highly doubt they killed this man because he walked in to a media room with a rainbow shirt.

Arguably, the bigger issue was that he was "exposing" all the deaths of migrant workers over there building stadiums and things for the WC. The issue I have with that is that migrants die all the time in the middle east and I don't think Qatar or any other ME country really cares or even cares we all know about it. And btw, Indians make a lot more in Qatar than back home, so there is demand to still go.

Portugese player whining about the referee. Dude, he gave you an undeserved man down advantage. Go cry somewhere else.

Some of the best players ever grew up playing in the streets of slums with whatever they could get a hold of for a ball. It's in their DNA and souls. The US is trying to manufacture that level of passion.

Eric Bledsoe slept in his car. Dennis Rodman was homeless for 3 years. We don’t need to manufacture it, it’s in the US plenty, it’s just not going to soccer.

You can’t tell me with all the tens of millions of dollars invested in men’s soccer the last 20 years in a nation of 300+ million people we can’t find 20 dudes who can beat fake *** countries like Wales and do better than the the Japs and frogging Morocco.

As a near neophyte soccer watcher, thought France England was one of the best matches I have ever seen. Lots of scoring opportunities, many great saves, two amazing goals by the French, and a choke job by Kane, although thought the foul call in the box was a joke (player that was fouled didn't even have the ball - although I admit I don't understand all the rules)

Pulling for a France Argentina final.

Let’s talk rule changes for a bit. Next game not till Tuesday.

Yes the game is the most popular sport in the world and soccer lovers will laugh, but how about some easy changes to add offense to the game, and therefore more American interest.

Offsides- Get rid of them or make it any piece of your body is even with the last defender, you’re onside. I absolutely hate when an offensive players is 2 inches past the defender and the flag comes up. Every part of the ball has to be over a line, make it the same with the body.

Throw ins- Get rid of them or make them free kick options. Maybe from mid field you still throw it, but have the option of taking a free kick if closer to the goal. Imagine a lot more corner kick type plays and more action.

Substitutions- Why not infinite subs? Why not sub on the fly like hockey? Why not a player can get a breath and come back in the game? Already doing this in college no? I would much rather have fresh legs and more offense.

Yea I know they will never happen, but what else ya got?

Man I thought it was cool when the guy kicked the ball and it hit the wall and the ball went back into play - let it play on instead of calling out of bounds

Ot should be sudden death. Pks for an obscure foul going away from the goal but barely inside the box is dumb. Grant them a free kick from a designated spot but not a pk.

The rule change I'd make is on all fouls' free kicks that the choice can be made be to have the kick be unobstructed by the D at the spot of the foul. All field players on both teams would need to be further from the goal line than the kicker. No other O player could touch the ball before the keeper does. Would stop a lot of crap fouls imo by making the risk of a goal quite high.

Lol... I'd be interested to see what it looks like, but that would COMPLETELY change the game. I do like your idea re: any piece of your body is even. I wonder if that would be harder to call for a ref. With tech it would be fine (for pros).

Subs in the USA unless a fifa sponsored event are unlimited. Generally club rules follow FIFA rules but hs and college unlimited subs. The great thing about this is it takes a lot of the in game coaching out of the equation. Enjoy high school and college soccer leave the global sport alone when it comes to subs.

Offsides i agree the rule needs to be tweaked and honestly var shouldn’t come into unless it is a bang bang type of play for a goal. This going back 30 seconds a minute in play is a killer for the game. If it’s a cross that lead to a goal ok check it, but ball played into the final third that leads to a buildup leave it. On the rule itself without var it’s not a human judgement call. You saw those goals vard and called back the officials made no call. They were virtually a tie but because of tech probably need to look at that offsides rule.

I think it’s the same on the pk. If human judgement on the field is going to be eliminated then the rules need to change. England got two weak *** PKs last game. Diving has become an art. It’s not just someone falling it’s knowing how to make the defender vulnerable to weak fouls. By the letter of the law with var those guys flying away from the goal at the top of the 18 if a guy steps on his toe it’s a pk. It’s a bit disproportionate. Maybe reclassify some of these fouls into indirect kicks or give the officials more latitude to classify fouls in the box. And If on var a guy goes down on an obvious dive it’s gotta be a YC everytime.

Throws FIFA is actually looking into quick restarts. I don’t think they will be corner type situations though because the rules for throw in are two yds for defenders and corner or free kick is 10 yards.

Reyna news. Yikes!!
...but if you have followed Reyna it shouldn't be that surprising. My first times watching him were when he was on a USYNT U17 tourney that he and Gianluca Busio were the highest profile guys and he is a kid that wears his emotions on his sleeve in a very negative way; he was a winger played at a 9 and it was a minor disaster.

The whole "Berhalter doesn't have the confidence of the European players" was a Reyna camp leak. The other stuff with the vote was people coming to Berhalter's defense. Sounds like it was thought to be handled in house, and once out of Qatar the knives came out. It probably happens in most other camps and I suspect if you haven't already will hear the same from Portugal and England at minimum.

Still believe Reyna a more important piece of the future than Berhalter.

Love what you have added to this thread. My FB feed has been inundated with WC gossip, especially as it relates to Belgian infighting, England Coach and Ronaldo. So, pretty normal.

As to Reyna, Jason McIntyre noted same stuff as you on Twitter. No matter what you think of Berhalter, I think this issue resides with Reyna.
