On face book there is a post asking for all denominations to join together in a fast for the corona virus. It doesn't matter what religion you may be whether it's Jewish, Buddist, Hindu, Christian, non denominational or whatever God you worship. Fasting usually is for two consectative meals. Health issues will prohibit some people from fasting. I am a type 2 diobetic and I'm gonna give it shot. If for some reason you cannot fast without food or water is two sacrifice something that is vital in your life whether it is golf, fishing, on the internet or television watcher during that time. Fighting and defeating this pandemic is literally a world war in which all countries stand on common ground. Please give this some serious consideration. If you can go only one meal skipped then do that. Whatever you can sacrifice because that is what a fast is. I try hard not to mix politics and religion on our Duke basketball board but to me this is important. I ama Christian and have seen miracles happen in my life , one just happened in the past year with my kidney plus other things that have happened in my life. I really should have died in a fall when I was 19 but it wasn"t the Lord's will at that time. We must let our God know our desire and then it is his will. Thank you for reading this thread and all you choose to do. OFC

I’ve been doing the 18:6 fast since the new year. Tried it last year after asking @Fourteen44 about it and failed miserably....multiple times.

My only hiccup since January has been a golf trip with the guys and a Mexico trip. I’m down 19 lbs, have gave up pop/soda altogether and feel great. I’m almost tempted to play 35 and older baseball this summer.

The stomach cramps the first month were tough, but I just knew if I could make it a month I’d be in the clear. I drink a lot of water and fruits and veggies have actually become friends. I drank an unhealthy amount of Pepsi and Mountain Dew before this and almost bought a Dew two weeks ago because of stress....somehow put it back in the cooler.

Good to hear and good luck in the 35 and over hardball league. I played in one many, many moons ago and still coach a team. Every now and then I still Pinch hit. If I get on though its back to the dugout....Pinch runner!!!! OFC

I played with the young guys until I was 40 (three years ago) but I knew it was time. When I was 34 I tried retirement for a year and failed, so the next season I did 35 and over and I hated it. It wasn't as competitive as I wanted, so I went back to regular ball.

The town ball team I played for has a pretty rich history and every other year hosts an old-timers/alumni game. You must be 40 or above to play in the game....and two summers ago I did and was able to catch an inning with my dad pitching. He was 68. One of my favorite memories ever. He walked one guy and allowed a hit, but he struck out two and got a pop-up to end the inning. I'm not sure which was of us was more emotional.

We're crossing our fingers that we get to play this summer. He's 70 now and says this will be his last go-round. Hopefully things clear up by July and the game can happen.
