Ice T went from Cop Killer to playing a detective on Law and Order.

Ice Cube went from N.W.A. to Are We There Yet?

Eddie Murphy went from Raw and movies like Coming to America/Trade Places, etc... to Daddy Day Care. Actually, Eddie Murphy may not really be as much of a sellout. I think he just stopped being funny.
In Murphy's defense, Daddy Day Care was a dope movie.

Eminem is the very definition of a sell out. He's always been about making money. That's his first goal. His primary motivation is to get paid. I still think you are having trouble with this concept.

Agreed. And he did it in the worst way. He crapped on mainstream music for his first few CD's, and now there isn't a Popstar he doesn't try and collaborate with to promote his mumbled songs about coming back, people overlooking him, the same crap we've heard for years.. all over piss-poor production.

Old Eminem would have talked about lighting SIA on fire while for feeding her 'ludes... now he wants to collaborate with her.

Might be the biggest sellout so far. He not only did it for money, he completely 180ed a lot of his persona for that payday.

Also, Eminem was never about the money. Plenty of rappers start and end their career with getting "that dough". You can't sell out if you've never bought in. Most rappers stay the course. Eminem didn't. I bet he's on the line with T. Swift now for a new collab hit on breakups, haters and comebacks.

.. in all honesty, not a bad idea. Both play the "scorned ex" role very well.

Has to be Hillary Clinton.

The Clintons are worth $200 million while she claims to be "broke".

I know there are some who will say Metallica. Since they became more mainstream in the 90s and didnt stay true to what made them popular

I had to listen to this stuff since they cut their hair and released the 'Load' album. They adapted, they didn't sell-out. I am a huge fan of Metallica and have been since the mid-1980's. I grew up on hard rock and heavy metal, and despite that I was all for the change. It was time. The black t-shirts/black jeans and long hair look was out. It took the band in a much needed new direction. They were so burned out from touring for so long from the black album that they needed a change just to decompress from all of it. They migrated the short distance from heavy metal to hard rock. Not that big of a change. Their songs still sounded like them, so what was the problem? Why, because they cut their hair short and left behind the aging look of 80's heavy metal guys for a sleeker look more appropriate for their age? Dave Mustaine never cut his hair or changed his look and I don't think that Megadeth has had a good song outside a couple of tracks on the 'Cryptic Writings' album since the very-early 1990's.

The fact of the matter is that 'Load' and 'Reload', although not regarded as one of their best albums, were still fine offerings to the genre. Also, I loved their cover album 'Garage Inc.' They showed their versatility with their ability to competently cover songs ranging over many styles of music.

I agree with everything you mentioned till you mentioned garbage inc. yes, pun intended. I tried to like it but Tuesday's gone doesn't even reach the level of bad cover. It's not completely terrible, as they do an ok job on turn the page, but some songs just can't be redone.

I think musicians get a bad wrap here. My musical taste changes as I got older. Why can't they?

The true sell outs are all in government. Almost every trade deal since the 70's.
