Is anyone else attending the World's in Croatia in September? Would be great to meet up!!
Man, great call, Banger. Would love to check out a World Championship tourney sometime, and this feels like a great choice for one!

Alas, I'll be swinging through Croatia too early--next week, and will miss the wrestling.

I hope you can post a lot while you're there and that we have a dedicated thread to it that includes both wrestling & travel. I think this is a fantastic idea for future travel, can't wait to read your tales!

Sounds like Croatia is popular among the board this year. First @pawrestlersinpa, then you, then Goldbanger + whomever else goes to Worlds, then I'm going in November.

If the Rivals OT Travel thread doesn't get brought back here soon, we may have to start one.

My wife and I will be on a Slovenia/Croatia vacation during the competition. Wrestling is not her thing so we are avoiding Zagreb. Will take a PSC Wrestling cap to wear. She is from Guatemala and enjoys seeing Brazil destroy Mexico in Football/Soccer. A long time ago I took her to the Rose bowl - PSC against Oregon. She liked the Duck hats and Duck sounds. Absolutely no clue what was going on.

Coastal cruise out of Venice: Rovin, Zadar, Hdar, Dubrovnik, Kotor Montenegro, Piran Slovenia
Nice. I think Zadar and Hvar were my favorite, though we didn't get to Rovin. Dubrovnik is the most popular, but that makes it the most crowded, despite being the largest, and in my opinion, none of that makes it the best.

MrsPA and I took 2100 pics, if that tells you anything about how beautiful it is.

Itching for your experiences/recommendations, whenever that travel thread gets reinstated (or we run out of patience and start a new one)!

Wife and I are going in November, tentative plan:
- arrival + 4d Sarajevo
- 1d Mostar
- transfer tour to Kotor including Blagaj dervish monastery, Kravice Falls, Vjetrenica Cave, Tvrdos Monastery, Trebinje
- 1d Kotor incl. speedboat tour + Perast
- 3d Dubrovnik
- 5d Split incl. day trips to Hvar, Trogir, Sibenik (plus maybe Krka National Park)
- depart from Split

Good news: THIS is now the travel thread lol. Thanks, Banger!

Will indeed be good to trade travel tales & recommends, jefe. Jeff to Jeff. Although my trip has mostly been planned for me (I finally stopped resisting the travel plans of my wife & her 82yo mother; I'll still have plenty of time (and more money lol) to take my boys to Australia & New Zealand when mil can no longer travel), we have some cool activities set up.

Despite so much of my travel these days being of the cruising kind, I remain a big fan of the way you roll & how well you research & plan.

How will you be traveling place to place on your trek? Train, car, boat, all 3?

Sarajevo to Mostar: possibly train, most likely bus because the train leaves at 7:15 am and the bus at 9 am. It's about 2 hrs either way.

Mostar to Kotor: transfer tour. No train. Bus is too long, without breaks, and might not have a toilet.

We wanted to do Kotor as a day trip from Dubrovnik, but that's too difficult in the offseason.

Kotor to Dubrovnik: bus.

Dubrovnik to Split: hoping to do 1-way car rental. I've been told the coastal drive is comparable to Pacific Coast Highway. Backup plan is a bus. No boats in the offseason, and no trains exist.

Even local boats are very limited in the offseason. We probably won't visit any islands near Dubrovnik because the boats are 1x daily and thus would require an overnight island stay.

Similarly, Hvar is the only island near Split we can visit without an overnight, and even then only on F-Sat.

Similarly, we want to visit Krka National Park but probably won't. Bus to park entrance is easy. But the boat into the park shuts down in the offseason, and it's a 3-mi hike each way to/from the meat of the park.

We likely won't get north of Sibenik because Split is the only coastal airport with useful offseason flights. Zadar might be too far for a day trip from Split. And we're saving northern Croatia for another trip.

All of this would be easier in October, but that's not when we can go. 🤷‍♂️

Gotcha.

What do you mean by "transfer tour"?
