Taphorn left his brain on the bench. Why the hell was he even allowed to inbound the ball in the first place?
Have Law inbound to either Mac or Brown... hell move Lindsey up. ND was going to foul regardless so having our quickest guys on the court to get open was the right play.

This was even worse than the Butler game. 2 points in the last 6 minutes. McIntosh missing shot after shot and poor Taphorn, who played great all night, ends up being the goat. Oh well....
Think you guys are being hard on Tap. We're not even in the game at the end without his clutch rebounding and shooting, imo.
Agreed, Tap kept us in that game, BMac was 3-18 with 4 turnovers. In a sense, it would've been like we stole the game had we won, but when you're up one point and the other team is fouling to get you to the bonus, you have to at least get to the stripe. If it is not abundantly clear, Collins better work his *** off developing good inbounds and full court pressure strategy for the rest of the season, or we will surely piss away hard fought victories like tonight which we desperately need.
Think NU has used Taphorn on numerous occasions throughout his years on the team, usually successfully. Yes, he got the yipes there but his 3 point shots kept NU in the game. If you don't think CC works his *** off in all fazes of the game, I think your mistaken. It was just one kid trying to do to much at the end and a bad decision by a usually reliable in bounds player. ND being called for virtually no fouls had probably more to do with the loss then anything else.
McIntosh didn't come to the ball making it very tough on Taphorn. Tap still cost us the game by not calling a TO.
Even after the bad inbounds, though . . . am I the only one who thought the blocking foul on Tap was a bit questionable? It would've been tough to call at live speed, but on replay, it looked to me - and perhaps this is my bias speaking - like Tap was just outside the restraining arc and his feet were set (though admittedly not by much) before contact was made.
Blaming Taphorn for losing that game is offensive both to nu basketball and to yourself. There aren't many surefire ways to make yourself look worse than putting the game on that one play, especially after how many great things he did in the previous 39 minutes and 39 seconds.

You couldn't be more incorrect. He had 2 timeouts left and didn't think to use one. He then **** down his leg and heaved the ball to a space where there were 2-3 ND players and no NU players within 15 feet. Then he committed a bad foul where not only did he leave his feet, he didn't foul Farrell hard enough and let him get an and 1.
It was the definition of a choke job
Actually, i think it was law or lindsey that started to break towards to open space and then turned upcourt. Blame him for poor communicatior or anticipation, and maybe even a moonball desperation heave, but there were plenty of teammates that could have broken towards to ball or yelled for a timeout.
As for the blocking call, i believe there has been a shift in how refs are supposed to call that. TAP didn't leave his feet, but was a tad late in getting into position. I think the annoucers said that the refs are now calling that a blocking nearly 100% of the time, regardless of if you are positioned outside the cylinder.
And earlier in the game, farrell got called for a similar foul when lindsey drove to the basket on what looked like a clear charge on replay.
