Go to the Texas Bowl ahead of a 7-5 Mississippi State? The Texas Bowl has a pretty nice payout compared to some of the other bowl games.

Weird. I used to think all bowl money was equally distributed, but then I looked it up here:

I was wrong. That's an $725,000 difference for the school between the Las Vegas ($2.9 Million Payout) and Texas ($6.4 Million Payout).

PayoutParticipating SEC Team Keeps
Less than $1.5 Million$1,050,000
$1.5 Million to $3.999 Million$1,325,000
$4 Million to $5.999 Million$1,525,000
$6 Million or more$2,050,000
CFP Semifinal$2,050,000
CFP Championship$2,150,000

The lowest payout for an SEC contracted bowl is the Gasparilla Bowl at $1.125 Million.

This is in addition to a 'travel expense' allowance determined by the SEC Executive Committee.

The remainder is split 15 ways (SEC Office + 14 Members).

Because they beat us. We'd get in at 7-5 over a 6-6 Arkansas team we beat.
Well there’s also the matter of Arkansas getting to 6-6, they could very feasibly lose to OM and at Missouri and not go to a bowl game.

The way I see it now is, win the Egg and we go to Tampa or Jacksonville. Lose the Egg and it’s Houston or Vegas.

We won’t go to Memphis two years in a row and I don’t think we go back to Nashville so soon yet either. And we won’t fall fall to Birmingham unless we lose to ETSU.

We aren't likely going to Vegas IMO. School doesn't want to go there. Probably be Nashville if I had to guess. Vegas is at the bottom of our wish list.

The bowls don’t care who beats who. Nor do they really care about records. Nor does the SEC. All anyone wants is intriguing matchups and attendance, as there is no official pecking order beyond the Citrus Bowl.

The Texas Bowl might as well be renamed the LSU-A&M-Arkansas invitational, then add Texas and OU to that grouping in 2024 or 2025. One of those teams is just about always going to slip to that tier, and the Texas Bowl will take them every time.

I'd rather boycott Texas than Vegas** Outback Steak hasn't been the same since we started boycotting them, their business has reeling because of that dumb move by them for years.....
