Would a win at Florida get you back on board?

I personally have reached my limit as far as my emotional investment into UK football goes...

I'll continue to watch the games when it's convenient, but my "give a crap" is pretty much gone.

We'd have to REALLY turn it around for me to even care at this point.

It won't happen. But itd help. IMO it's a must win game. It's the only way stoops can save face. But no way he gets it done. Though I do not believe the gators are any good this season. They're certainly an exponentially better team than us.

It would make me happy but Florida looked just as bad as UK. UMass went 3-9 last season and had a horrid defense. (Bowling Green put up 62 on them). And Florida struggled in getting 1 TD in the first half. Florida's run game looked decent but nothing special. A win vs FLA doesnt tell us much about this team. USM would have likely beaten Florida too the way the Gators played Saturday.

Florida will win the East again, IMO.

I think this game will be close for a while, but UF eventually pulls away.

Well, we can hope some "fans" drop out.
You'll be the last man standing if that happens. We could be 0-11, and you'll be optimistic about the Louisville game.

To answer the OP's question, I would be cautiously optimistic about 6 wins and a bowl, which is where I was going into the season. I had us at 1-1 after two games, so a win against Florida would put us where I though we would be, even if we arrived at an unexpected path. That said, no matter how questionable Florida may look this year, that 17 point spread is there for a reason. I'll leave it at that.

If I banged Scarlet Johansen my average would move from a 7 to an 8. Sure it would help but does it really change the future where they would be at best a 7?

Jauk feels entitled because he never questions the coaching staff or team. He's arguably the worst fan. He's the type of fan is why we have been bad for so long
Agreed. Some would argue that his kind are the best, most loyal fans. I would be considerably less charitable in my assessment. My assessment is the same as yours.

It would help no doubt. It would show me something that no stoops team has.

1. A postive reaction to adversity

2. The team and coaches would actually have made adjustments during the week.

In order to get to 6 wins we have to win at least 1 game I was expecting us to lose. I never expected (and still don't) expect UK to beat UF. If we were to pull off the win it'd help. Even with a win it's more than possible we only go 4-8, but a win would certainly be a step in the right direction.

On another note a win would mean more than just for this season. One of the few things I liked about Joker's tenure here was he beat Tennessee and he beat Spurrier. He was able to end those streaks and it felt great to get that embarrassment off our backs. A win would at least allow me to say the same of the Stoops era regardless of our final record.

Starting 0-2 for a team in the SEC with a lack of defensive depth like ours is a death sentence. Stoops needs this game. USC and Vandy are no longer automatic wins IMO. Neither has an offense, but lets be honest, any halfway decent Oline and RB can destroy this Dline.

It's better to just let go emotionally a little bit than to act like an ***, so that's what I'm trying to do.

When it becomes obvious that we're going to suck, you have to just step back and focus on other interests a little more.

Sorry jauk. But you have constantly been overestimating our coaching and talent due to the numerical rating you base all of football around. It'd just be nice to hear you admit you were Wong about this team and stoops for once. You've done nothing but sunshine pump And pretend as if we're headed in the right direction. You can say some of our 'fans' all you want. But the sunshine pumpers who still act like stoops is the man are even worse fans then the ones who are being real about the situation. I just don't feel like you take admitting you were wrong very well. I've had man posters tell me lately. 'You were right, I was wrong'. But you. You sir continuously sunshine pump this garbage-esque head coach. What did I tell you jauk about stoops ability to make in game/half time adjustments in the offseason? All you did was bring up numbers of recruiting classes. But what does that have to do with a coaches inability to coach?

STOOPS is obviously in over his head and doesn't have a damn clue on how to adjust or prepare a team or coach to save his damn life. He just got beat by one of the worst Oc's I've ever seen his first game after firing the man. If that's not humiliating idk what is. It's just funny how every little thing I told you about stoops this offseason. Is still 100% true this season. And you still can't admit you're wrong? You still think stoops can coach? Pffft.. You need a reality check bro stoops is hot garbage. Does that make me a bad fan? No. I'll continue to support the university and cheer every game but I will no longer attend the games and will be in with the fans who are begging and pleading for him to get fired. I hope us fans do our job and make that stadium empty considering that's the only way to get MB's attention. He's a bad coach. He needs to be a DC somewhere. But definitely not an SEC caliber head coach. We need to empty the stadium. And not show up at games. And after that loss I feel like attendance just took a HUGE hit. And I'm sorry jauk but you've been wrong about pretty much everything you've had to say about this team and stoops. But for the life of me can't figure out why you're still sunshine pumping.

Yes, a win against UF would bring me back on board.

If we're 0-2 after Florida, Stoops is done. He made A LOT of money on his stop here though....

You gotta hand it to Stoops, he conned Mitch into believing the dream and now he's a multi millionaire for life no matter if he gets fired.

I dont necessarily even need a win.

Play tough football.

Battle on the lines - protect the QB, open some holes. Dont get pushed around on defense.

No stupid coaching mistakes.

If we lose lets lose due to the huge talent and depth disparity not because of lack of heart, terrible fundamentals and poor coaching.

This board is notorious for manic depressive posting. Many posters give a crap after wins and not after losses. It is what it is. Kentucky hasn't beaten Florida since the 80s. If anyone thinks this team with its current defensive problems can beat Florida in the Swamp, they are dreaming. In answer to your question, I think our 2017 recruiting class has been compromised now, because major players want to play for a coaching staff that can develop players. I doubt there will be more major commitments this year. But I will be encouraged if Stoops can hold onto Koback, Richardson, Ajian, King. Here's what would really give me some renewed hope. Stoops must dismiss Eliot in December and hire a real coordinator upgrade. That would show courage and problem recognition.

I'm not sure why, but I'm still irrationally angry about the loss to Southern Miss. I'll be watching the Florida game, and I'm sure a win against the Gators would do wonders for my disposition. I guess I'm on board either way. We can still make a bowl game thanks to another down year in the SEC east.

Still think the team is and will be built. I'm just shocked at how bad we are and how far away we still are.

Especially going up against a first year coach and our own failed OC working from a conference USA platform

We may get there, but it's not wrong to point out we are an absolute train wreck right now

UK could go unbeaten the rest of the year and there would be frustration over that game , I think had it been a back and forth game then it wouldn't be received so harshly . The big lead and collapse has made it a worse loss than it should have been because it embodied UK football history .

Perhaps I am still pumping the sunshine because I have never been one to give up easily, I still think it is POSSIBLE (NOT likely) that the first half team shows up at Florida instead of the second half one. It would take a tremendous attitude adjustment though, but I will still be putting my money on the Cats-----with the points, of course, the ONE thing this game might have helped,

What was that LSU score anyway, 48-0, 49-0?

Were you here then, were you backing Brooks then? LOL

And no, I still haven't given up on the team, and still think all your negativity does nothing but hurt recruiting, we do have some very good commits so far.

That is also true of many other posters on this board. Speaking only for myself, I said on numerous threads in July and August that Kentucky had to do 2 things well to win, run the football and get a pass rush on Mullens for 4 quarters. We did neither. All along, I have been concerned about our defensive line. All along, I felt Southern Miss is a better football team than Vandy, Mississippi State, and South Carolina. I did not like Gran's game plan. At the end of the 1st quarter, we were ahead but I told my wife we would lose the game. So I wasn't surprised in the least, and I am not angry. It is what it is. A couple years ago, Missouri lost their opener to Indiana on their home field, then won the SEC East. We aren't going to win the SEC East this year, but the juvenile response of many fans is uninformative and tiresome.

I also had a very bad feeling after the easy score USM got just before the half, perhaps a hangover from the Transfer U game last year. I think the team night have remembered that game also.

The team needs an attitude adjustment, maybe not as bad as the fans though.
