Obviously BG was a train wreck and a mess in multiple ways, but MB cut him loose after year 2. Would Pope’s history with the program prevent MB from admitting a mistake and moving on quickly?
I think it would. He will give him at least 3 years, sadly.Obviously BG was a train wreck and a mess in multiple ways, but MB cut him loose after year 2. Would Pope’s history with the program prevent MB from admitting a mistake and moving on quickly?
Yep. Not sure MB had a choice.lol Billy G was a walking DUI and treated the players like dogs. Easy for Mitch to do. Mark is too sweet and nice. Pope will be here for years.
Only if Mike Pratt(R.I.P.) and crew lock him behind a closed door and threaten him again.Obviously BG was a train wreck and a mess in multiple ways, but MB cut him loose after year 2. Would Pope’s history with the program prevent MB from admitting a mistake and moving on quickly?
Reasonable AD is the key word. We do not have oneYep. Not sure MB had a choice.
But any reasonable AD wouldn’t let the UK program begin a bad spiral without acting swiftly.
A reasonable AD. Mitch gave Cal a lifetime contract and Stoops $39 mill buyout for winning 7 games.Yep. Not sure MB had a choice.
But any reasonable AD wouldn’t let the UK program begin a bad spiral without acting swiftly.
Boosters will have a say more than Mitch.Obviously BG was a train wreck and a mess in multiple ways, but MB cut him loose after year 2. Would Pope’s history with the program prevent MB from admitting a mistake and moving on quickly?
Kentucky fans aren’t going to be patient on this. Say what you will about Billy G, but we played good defense and rarely got blown out. We have zero defensive identity and played two teams so far and been down by 20 or more in both. Make no mistake, year three isn’t certainHe went to the Sweet 16 in year one. Billy lost 14 games and got an undeserved 11 seed and bounced first round, and then went NIT the next year, also got kicked out of so many bars around town, got caught with coeds, had questionable practice and disciplinary methods, and a big drinking problem.
Pope won’t win a title here but he’s not going to be canned. Look at this program and how long they have kept Stoops.
Billy wasn’t working with someone else's $20 million either. He went to the Sweet 16 in year one. He wouldn’t have fired BCG had BCG not wanted out.Obviously BG was a train wreck and a mess in multiple ways, but MB cut him loose after year 2. Would Pope’s history with the program prevent MB from admitting a mistake and moving on quickly?
Pope might want out if this season is a disaster. Fans and boosters won’t be kind considering the sky high expectations this team had.He wouldn’t have fired BCG had BCG not wanted out.
They won't gain one tonightKansas passes us again in all-time wins under Pope's watch. Mitch will not move because Pope is not an issue for him personally.
In 2008, we went 18-13 with horrendous losses to teams like Gardner Webb and San Diego. We had at least six losses that year by double digits.Kentucky fans aren’t going to be patient on this. Say what you will about Billy G, but we played good defense and rarely got blown out. We have zero defensive identity and played two teams so far and been down by 20 or more in both. Yeah I guess I successfully forgot that. Yikes, wish you didn’t remind meIn 2008, we went 18-13 with horrendous losses to teams like Gardner Webb and San Diego. We had at least six losses that year by double digits.
L to Gardner Webb by 16
L to Indiana by 19
L Vandy by 41
L Louisville by 14
Next year, lost 14 games including one to VMI and got blown out by UNC and SC that year too.
We just watched Mitch not do anything to Calipari after a stretch of a losing season, a first rd loss to a 15 seed, a second round loss, and another first round loss to a 14 seed- and no SEC finals appearance during that time and Mitch still didn’t fire Cal.
At this stage I agree. It’s the boosters that will make the call, not Barnhart.3 years and I think it’s a mutual departure
Same. If this season and next go poorly I think Pope will choose to walk away.3 years and I think it’s a mutual departure
It's way deeper than Lowe's shoulder. This team is soft. Lowe is soft. Pope is soft.He will get 3. He will be on a warm seat if this season finishes the way it's looking like it will. We badly need our PGs shoulder to get better that is if he hasn't opted for surgery yet I've been out of the loop the last few days.
Two of his daughters and his wife looked absolutely miserable in the first half.Pope might want out if this season is a disaster. Fans and boosters won’t be kind considering the sky high expectations this team had.
Because close to a third of it went to players on the bench injured or one who is completely disinterested.I’m still dumbfounded at how 22 million buys…this.
The rumors of fighting makes me think he might not last the whole season.Same. If this season and next go poorly I think Pope will choose to walk away.
Year three wouldn't be certain with real ADs. Mitch would never can Pope short of a decade of 2nd round exits.Kentucky fans aren’t going to be patient on this. Say what you will about Billy G, but we played good defense and rarely got blown out. We have zero defensive identity and played two teams so far and been down by 20 or more in both. Make no mistake, year three isn’t certain
Oh yeah for sure. It's pitiful that this team was touted as a lock down defensive team full of dawgs that werent gonna be punked that were athletic enough to overcome the defensive issues of last year and there's not one kid on the entire team I've seen and dawg at all out of. Mo maybe on a 6-4 kid from a mid major but other than that we are not even pups not to mention dawgs. It's way deeper than Lowe's shoulder. This team is soft. Lowe is soft. Pope is soft.
This is going to be an extremely long yearYear three wouldn't be certain with real ADs. Mitch would never can Pope short of a decade of 2nd round exits.
