The, "He took ouuurrrrr players" is such a made up issue. An invented reason to rationalize acting like a bigger *** and obsessing. Those players all left on their own. They all looked at others schools, and some did choose somewhere other than Arkansas. Thiero and Wagner wanted to find anyplace hard but gave in. Cal didn't prevent them from coming back. Pope didn't make the effort for whatever reason, which is fine.

And he took ouuurrrr coaches? Come on. Stop pretending you care about that.

You do you. Make little heart signs with your hands and cheer like the fanboi you are.

Cal did us a favor by leaving. I have no disdain nor do I have any respect for the guy. He thought he was bigger than the program. He’s now learning that wasn’t the case. Prolly hard to take for a massive ego like his. I am with the crowd who would neither clap nor boo. But fans gonna fan I’m not going to judge anyone who feels differently than I do.

I don’t mind people booing or cheering . If I was there I wouldn’t boo.

I don’t get the people saying he took our players and recruits with him though . If he didn’t take them none of those guys would have stayed anyway.

He gave us a ton of great memories and beyond that he did a lot for people while here. Show some damn class.

You aren't in Louisville. YOURE IN LEXINGTON!!!
I’m old enough to remember when Kentucky fans had the reputation of being among the most knowledgable and classiest in all of college basketball, especially in the Adolph Rupp/Memorial Coliseum era … hopefully, we still are.

Booing would be such a bad look. Don't we still have the 2012 final four court in the locker room?

I know UK has UT to worry about but this is becoming a thing on twitter

I have been wanting him gone for years, but he left, he didn't cost Kentucky $40m and he hasn't talked 'ish about UK since his departure.

Cal is Cal, we knew how it would be.

But if I were in Rupp, I'd clap softly at the announcement of him and then cheer my butt off for Pope

Of course I'd much rather both programs be powerhouses in the SEC and it be an epic game. But UK is going to need the win , you could argue at this point more than Arkansas does.

Agree! The guy was here a long time! He coached in one of the best 3 periods of UK basketball. Like him or not we need to show respect & appreciation.

You must be some young idiot. Cal took us to 4 final 4's & won national championship. It was one of the 3 best eras in UK basketball history. UK had more tournament wins than any team in college basketball from 2010-2020. If that's what you call damage then give me some more of it. Dude just got old & washed-up. No reason to hate on him.

Why give respect ? Like , from BBN , he **** on us regularly .. he earned no respect at all .
Yes does everyone not forget what he did to our program the last 5+ years? He was breaking all the wrong records at an alarming clip!!!!! I mean 9-16 (worst record in school history), ST Peters, Oakland, Evansville, Robert Morris, Richmond, NIT appearances, Kansas State (twice) in the NCAA tournament, and I'm sure I missed some in there. This is while having the #1 0r #2 recruiting classes consistently. Then like you said talked down to us like we were big piles of crap!!!!!!!! HE HAS EARNED NO RESPECT HERE!!!

He wouldn't get a reaction from me and it's nothing to do with taking the players it's all about what he did to our program the last several years! I just don't want to have anything to do with him and I want him to stay as far away from our program as possible because he did enough damage!

I'm 45 and I watched what he did from 20-24 and that was some DAMAGE to the program! That outweighed all the good he did from 2009-2019!

I'm hoping for respectful applause and that's what I plan to give him during his introduction. Glad he is gone but I won't be booing him. Hoping UK fans are better than that, hoping.

I am not going to be there, but I hope he isn't booed. Regardless of the current circumstances, he gave a lot to this program and state at the peak of his career. It was best for everyone (except maybe Arkansas) that things transpired the way they did.

He’s going to be boo’d. Not Pitino levels or even close to it, but that will be the majority of reactions. Just how it goes.

The thing the BBN crowd can do that would make him feel as low as possible would be to not do anything. No cheers. No boos. Nothing. Just sit there in silence.

I guess I just don't understand WHY we would want to make him feel low.

At his height, he took us to four final fours and a title. Then despite the massive buyout that he had to where he could have stayed here for as long as he pleased, he did us a favor and left. Sure maybe it was a few years too late but he still bounced. He eventually saw the writing on the wall.

I have no ill will towards the guy. And in time, I hope he does make a return and gets a standing ovation.

All that matters is beating Arkansas. As for Cal, either politely clap or don't say or do anything. Booing him would be born of rudeness and pettiness. Nothing to gain from it.

A polite clap would be appropriate...as well as a good cheer for the players who left.

Man an oppy for vitriol like this is one of the things that makes college sports great.

My kid got there in 2020, and that player first softness cost her what should have been so many great hoops moments… one of many reasons she chose UK in the first place. She’s taking the day off from work (not easy to get) to get on a plane to lex to cheer on the cats and boo the crap out of cal.

I expect him to get a mixed reaction.
I would prefer silence when he is announced.
At some point a brief "Tyler Ulis", clap-clap, clap-clap-clap

And then beat them like we need to beat every team.

That's a stupid take.

Did Rupp's fizzle out undo all the good he did for the program?

What about Joe Hall?

What about Tubby?

One can argue that it was time for all of them to go but we appreciated the good years. The only one who's departure did not make sense was Pitino, and even he says it was a mistake.

Cal returned Kentucky to the "it" program which it had not been in a while. He declined & it was time for him to go. But we can appreciate the good years. How quickly we forget! And how unappreciative this corrupt generation is. A bunch of babies that demand instant success & then dump you like a ***** when finished with you.

The same can be said about your take that it's stupid.

Cal stayed 5 years too long and that was on him he could've left on his own way before he did ( which was a breach of contract speaking to Arkansas without permission) but instead he chose to stay and continue his downward spiral and his robbing of the University. Cal never returned us to the it program we were UK before him and we will be UK after him. That's any coach that's coached here!

I wasn't born when Rupp was coach but knowing our history the man built the program and prestige to what it is today and his 4 Championships say A LOT !

Joe B Hall was coach before I was born and left when I was just a toddler so I really don't know but he played for us and he won a Championship here so he bled UK blue.

Pitino left when he had UK on top of the mountain and left UK in excellent shape he was made Boston head coach and GM. So in his eyes it made sense to him and his family at the time! I know he says he regrets leaving and he's been the best coach of my lifetime!

As for Tubby he stayed longer than what he should've but he never lost to the teams that I showed in my post above, never took us to the NIT, and he didn't have the worst record in school history!

Hey we live in AMERICA you have your opinion and I'll have my opinion. Even though my opinion is backed up by facts.

We had become 100% irrelevant under Tubby & that continued. You've forgotten what it was like.

Part of Cal's decline was himself but the toxicity of the fanbase after COVID did not help. We had fans hoping we'd fail last year, so that maybe Cal would leave. Literally a poster said he hoped we would not win a championship last year because it would result. That's pretty foul! Cal needed to leave, but there was no way forward even with success with how toxic things had become.

I didn't forget what it was like with Tubby it was bad. It wasn't St Peters , Oakland , NIT, and 9-16 bad though. Tubby just didn't want to recruit like he should've to UK he got the most out of his 2* and 3 * players. Cal just didn't give 2 squats about UK and UK fans he was all about himself and the NBA draft board! We were even more irrelevant under Cal and supposedly his consistent #1 or #2 recruiting classes when he left!

I have a question for you who did less with more John Calipari or Dean Smith?

UK is the only school Cal coached at getting the level of talent he got here. He did not get 4-7, 5-star recruits at UMASS & Memphis every year. He did not have 1 at UMASS...Camby was the highest & he was a 4-star. Memphis he'd get an elite recruit & fill out the roster with juco player's & transfers.

I think we've learned getting all the young talent without hardly any meaningful returning pieces was not a recipe for success. Early on Cal would get some returning pieces & that pretty much ended with the Monk, Fox, & BAM group. We were not getting Brisco's, Hawkins, & Willis' to stay any longer. The COVID year did not have one single returning player with any meaningful minutes. After that the talent pull started declining as well. Cal's coaching & handling roster declined as well. He looked washed up. But he did not destroy the program. He's gone & I'm glad but I still appreciate what he did until those last 4 years.

Man.....I would want to boo him but would probably would not. Haven't been able to stomach him since around 2016...maybe 2017.

Just an awful coach that talked in circles in press conferences, never actually saying anything meaningful, also talked down to fans often. And it drove me nuts that we still had fans that defended him.

Having said all that.....he is experiencing some major humbling this year. I wouldn't boo but I definitely wouldnt cheer. He's a turd.

Did we boo Pitino? Now he went to UL but Cal took our players, recruits and coaches in the same league. I appreciated his first 8 years but he started getting stale and annoying. I would boo him and cheer him when they lose. It’s not a very good Christian attitude to have and I’m working on being a better person but until then I hope he runs his reputation into the ground.
I'm sure Cal thinks of them as his players that followed him to Arky... until they don't make the NBA and then he never speaks of them again.

Part of me says get down in the mud with the hogs and give it to him. However, we're Kentucky, they are just Arkansas, Cal or not. I'd prefer clapping softly for him and show we are better than most.
