Classify Die Hard as a Christmas movie?

Bru still likes those kiddie clay-mation Christmas shows.
I do like them. Are you saying Christmas should be celebrated by a bunch of killing and blowing up an office building?

Seriously and it is only an opinion and it doesn't matter if others think differently than me on something so insignificant but just because a movie takes place during a Christmas party doesn't make it a "Christmas movie" for me. If it does for you guys, that is fine and dandy.

The radio station I listen to the most had this discussion last week and it was very interesting. I would say about 40% of the people calling in shared my opinion and the rest said it was a Christmas movie.

No

There's nothing Christmas about it except as a reason the whole building was empty except for those at that party.

That party could have been for anything.
Umm...It's about a man doing anything to spend the holidays with his family. Placing an obstacle between family members is Christmas movie 101.

Yes, that may be a subplot. Do people watch Die Hard for that reason? I didn't the 10 times I have seen it.

Exactly. The only connection between Die Hard - and Die Hard 2 - and Christmas is that both take place around Christmastime.

But none of the others had the same theme ... therefore not a Christmas movie, it is an action movie that happened to be set at Christmas.
